Management expects way too much of it's employees and doesn't appreciate the work that they do for them. I feel like I whatever I do is never enough. Managers often times "bark" out orders at us, expect us to get everything done and provide good customer service, while they sit up in the office and rarely come on the floor to help out. Whenever we call a manager to the floor for customer service, they always take forever coming down...leaving us to deal with customer, who is becoming more impatient.
When those of us on the front lines make suggestions as to how we can improve things, they don't listen; even though we know it will work. Those who hold higher positions at Sportchek really have no idea what it's like to actually be on the floor serving customers. We are often asked to do impossible tasks, which frequently decreases our ability to simply serve the customer and give them the "Sportchek experience".
Removal of our 15 minutes breaks was the worst decision ever. Being on your feet for four hours straight is extremely tiring...especially when you are expected to be all over the store. By the end of the shift, we are exhausted, which decreases our productivity. Even this quick 15 minute break, makes a huge difference in the long run. How is it fair that our managers get to sit in their office and "break" for a bit, while the employers have to work like dogs to run the store?
