Pros

They are flexible about work locations. The pay and benefits are decent relative to comparable companies. The camaraderie among non-management employees is very good.

Cons

Stavvy leadership is inexperienced in running a saas business and it shows. There are too many people in figurehead roles where it is unclear what they do or the value they bring. It feels like leadership has little connection to those on the ground. The product direction is unfocused and disorganized. Whilst the tech is relatively up-to-date, it is a mess. Another round of layoffs just occurred targeting “low performers.” This is contradictory as some talented coworkers with tribal knowledge were let go, whilst much less capable but connected people remain. It smells like nepotism or favoritism. Even if the powers that be were pressured to pick some arbitrary number of people to layoff, it seems like those without special association to the people with influence are not safe. This is demoralizing and does not inspire confidence. Morale and trust are at an all time low.

Stay Away. Toxic Company.

Pros

The benefits are decent and comparable to other start-ups in terms of health care and salaries. Find these benefits elsewhere, they don’t make up for the terrible executive leadership at the center of a toxic company.

Cons

The executive leadership team is at the heart of every issue with Stavvy. They spew toxicity. This is, without a doubt, the most childish team of "professionals" you can find. They enjoy their titles and do nothing to showcase the skills required to be deserving of them. It is a testament to the other leaders in this organization that anything gets done at all. With a CFO who is in way over his head, a CRO with the inability to lead and little understanding of sales to warrant such a title, and a COO who will do very little to question her team in fear of falling out of favor with the CEO and CRO, this ELT is too big for their britches, way overstaffed, and incapable of sticking to a plan. The CEO is a narcissist who shows little interest in those outside the executive circle and will quickly turn on someone the moment he loses interest in them. He believes his unprofessional quips make him trendy and interesting when, in fact, they are nothing more than inappropriate. His team never questions him because they know to question him is to lose his favoritism which means the executive team spends more time sucking up to him than doing their jobs well. He is the root cause of toxic positivity at this company. They will never accept their faults, and even with a year of abysmal ratings from company engagement surveys, which only get worse with each quarter, they believe that their ratings are not justified and do nothing to make improvements. Rather than rewarding those who do well in the organization, the executive team has their favorites who have become untouchable and receive raises and promotions regularly despite not performing in a capacity deserving of such recognition. Such favoritism can be seen in the continued bolstering of the VP of People who has maintained her position, and even received raises, while the employee scores show a steady decline of dissatisfaction with little done to turn things around. They are well aware of these poor Glassdoor reviews and have even asked others at the company to post positive reviews to improve their ratings rather than taking a critical look at the feedback being given and making significant improvements. The majority of the positive reviews posted recently on this site are at the hands of the People Team to hide what their employees are trying to say. These poor reviews will almost always be viewed by the executive team as a reflection of layoffs and other similar factors and never as a direct reflection of their leadership style.

Pros

Benefits and comp are above market averages. Some of the ICs and Managers are truly talented, kind and supportive. Comp is solid.

Cons

This was once a promising company trying to build something interesting and innovative. Leadership has systematically destroyed this place. Many of the previous reviews have covered the important topics, they are accurate. Internally Glassdoor is a dirty word and usually associated with disgruntled people, but this is denial from leadership and nothing more. If people were not scared, there would be a lot more reviews. Major areas of concern: - Opaqueness: Like many places, trust and transparency are preached, but not practiced. Communication is muddled and confusing. Dissent at times is discouraged. Some of the more vocal people were swept up in the previous layoff. Coincidence? There was once a review here accusing leadership of ignoring harassment. Naturally the review was flagged by someone in leadership and temporarily removed, only to come back. This is sadly proof that the allegation was correct as per Glassdoor policy. We still do not know who was harassed or by whom. This injects fear into the organization. - Strategy: Very confusing. Lots and lots of pivots, changes, starts and stops. Recently another company was purchased with lots of overlapping functionality. No real clarity on what is going on. This results in an extremely inefficient engineering process. - Promotions: Wrong people get promoted and rewarded, right people either get nothing or leave. We have seen so much talent get frustrated and walk away. Meanwhile anyone in the "inner circle" that tows the company line gets fancy titled and given more responsibility. Most recent promotions are a good example. Overall it is becoming pretty clear to the folks on the ground, that this is not a meritocracy. This is a special club where leadership gets to play with millions of dollars of investor's money, and enjoy their titles - titles that do not reflect ability. Accusations of nepotism and favoritism absolutely ring true. - Gossip: Because transparency is not rewarded, rumors and gossip are the way information spreads. This is especially noticeable from leadership where the tone is set. No direct feedback is given, but lots of bad things are said about people. Eventually demotions or departures follow. This is not healthy. - Culture: Dying. This used to be a very vibrant place and lots of office activity. Recently the office has been empty, morale is low and outlook is grim. We were all given a small plaque with the values, but those values are not practiced. Culture is toxic. Culture, honesty, transparency all start at the top - everyone knows that - and yet completely absent here. Many are stuck here because of a tight job market. If there were more opportunities available, a large number of people would exit. There were two layoffs already, under the guise of controlling revenue, but then two companies were acquired. Very few things add up or make sense around here. This is a ticking time bomb.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback - we value all of our current and former employees' feedback. Improving communication channels and refocusing our goals are top priorities for us as we continue to build a strong team and product. We’ve focused on improving visibility into current priorities and key results by publishing our company goals (most recently our H1’24 goals) on a company-wide confluence page that is updated monthly by Leadership. Additionally, we launched weekly updates from our Executive Level Team and Five Bullet Friday, a weekly wrap of the 5 things our Stavviators should know before they log-off for the weekend. These are just some of the ways we are working to improve and your input is invaluable. We encourage you to continue sharing your thoughts as we continue to evolve and improve at Stavvy.
