Pros

The team you’ll work with on a day-to-day basis is truly amazing. Everyone is passionate about the company’s mission and want to propel it forward. Benefits cannot be beat. Unlimited PTO, fully paid medical, amazing referral bonuses, free lunch on Mondays, snacks, $30 weekly meal card, dogs in the office, competitive salary.

Cons

Senior leadership is overly condescending. I’ve worked in with all types of people in all types of environments, but have never had managers be so unnecessarily rude. They claim it’s because “you don’t understand what I’m saying, try to understand,” when really it’s due to differences in opinions on how things to be handled. They provide little direction upfront, saying they trust your expertise, but then overreact when they don’t agree with something you’ve done. Honestly, the way they speak to people is causing unrest and I foresee it causing high turnover in coming months when, until now, hasn’t been a problem. The CEO/founder is passionate about the mission, which is great... except when he overreacts to criticism (internal and external). Instead of taking five minutes to digest and see where someone is coming from (or simply making sure he understand the question/comment), he gets defensive. He’s out of touch with marketing best practices, and really with his target audience in general. They also set completely unrealistic KPIs. They’re so focused on user registrations that they’re missing out on core pieces of their business - like user retention/active accounts, brand advocacy, community (which is even part of their elevator pitch to people), education, etc. As a new business, they’re completely ignoring building a credible online presence which will be harder to build down the road. If you try to do anything other than push app downloads, you’ll completely miss your goals.

Pros

Great health insurance. Great office view.

Cons

The company leadership does not communicate honestly with employees. They set unrealistic goals and demand an unreasonable amount of work until you burn out. They will promise raises and reviews and not come through. The product and message pivot every week. They are not afraid of letting people go on a whim.

Pros

Lots of momentum for a Series A startup. Professional but laid back team in a relaxed environment. Having Shaq involved from a marketing perspective is a huge asset. Benefits: WFH available, legit lunches are provided 3 days a week, free family health insurance plans with excellent coverage. Overall it is a great place to work. A fun fast moving environment without feeling frantic or disorganized and the people aren't Type A but still like to produce quality work at a fast clip.

Cons

Normal pains of a growing startup - more work than people.
