Pros

Started with an interesting concept

Cons

Unprofessional management team in every way you could imagine: Double standards, lack of accountability, bad tempers (yelling is a weekly occurrence). Unclear vision. Business model has shifted sometimes as often as monthly. Industry perception.

We regret that you had a negative experience at Stellar. Our goal is to create a productive, fun and stimulating work environment. I personally apologize and we appreciate the time you took to provide your thoughts openly. Yes, we have challenges, but early stage startups often experience changes in direction, and some level of uncertainty. Since you left the company we have made significant strides forward including the following. - We have a well developed strategy to engage operators and corporate flight departments with value added tools. - We have a development partnership with Rockwell Collins which has cemented our strategy and roadmap. - We have a new board of directors, including Dean Donovan and Dave Siegel, with deep industry expertise and an appropriate executive management structure and governance to ensure adherence to the plan. - We have a very strong recruiting plan to bring in top talent, positively influence the team, and grow the company. The evidence of this progress is our recent close of a large Series A round with top tier institutional investors and industry experts. Regards, Tim O'Brien

Uninspiring

Pros

There is lunch every Monday catered. Bathroom is close, just outside across the hallway. There is also a game room.

Cons

It's quite shocking to me how upper management can chastise people so easily around here - not fun. In terms of performance, they expect employees to deliver, but have no accountability for their own performance. Given the above, it's quite uninspiring to be working here, especially when they're not all that competent for the title/roles they have.

The Truth

Pros

Wow. Looks like there's a lot of propaganda and rating manipulation going on here from both sides. You can see it in the timing patterns of reviews and responses so let me give you the truth. The company has a tumultuous history, but that means lots of opportunity to come in and try to create positive change. Emphasis on "try" because many others have tried and been unsuccessful in the past. You'll get to take on lots of projects and practically have a green field experience. Most of the people here are awesome and what is being built is game-changing.

Cons

Pros aside, there's high turnover here for a reason (even in management where we're on our 2nd CEO and 3rd VPE in just over 2 years. Leadership and management hasn't been the best. A lot of time has been spent on fundraising and not enough time has been spent on building a good company with regards to focusing our attention on a specific piece of the market, improving corporate culture, and generally managing and taking care of employees. Unfortunate, but props to them for making sure not a single payroll has been missed. However, there's still a lack of best practices in place, consistent management/treatment of employees, and not enough results from the work we've done. Morale is low and there's also still some sting from the last round of layoffs. Along the way we've had toxic, unprofessional employees who yell, treat others poorly, and/or underperform and most are gone, but not all. That's the reason for a fair number of departures here and it feeds into our problems with securing talent. Managers want something different than the team and typically goes after personal wants rather than corporate needs. Most of our hires used to come from referrals. Now you'd be hard pressed to find people here that are willing to refer their friends and family even after we implemented a referral payout program.
