Pros

There are no pros for working for Stephensons.

Cons

Where do I start - - Lack of training/support: No support or training given at all. The most you'll asked to do is some administrative duties. If you're lucky you might even get the chance to use the photocopier. Management is unapproachable and unsupportive. - Not enough work: There simply isn't enough work to delegate but they must like to employ people to give out free money (cheers). I requested tasks to do every single day however there was none for me to do. It baffles me as to why you'd carry on employing people if there are solicitors who are sat at their desks twiddling their thumbs. If you fancy a job where your sat on your backside doing nothing all day apply at Stephensons. But if you're eager to learn and want to be in stimulating environment stay away from this firm. - Toxic environment: Everyone including senior members like to play Chinese whispers. Completely unprofessional.

Pros

- Friendly staff - Boost reward system is good - Wide variety of work Thats it...

Cons

- Redunacy chosen over peoples jobs! Firm decided to start redundancy process before furlough ended as they wanted to keep profits over people. When someone suggested a company wide pay cut this was shot down as senior colleagues cared more about their higher wages and bonuses rather than saving jobs of the lower paid colleagues (paralegals / admin staff - Very poor training - told to watch videos then thrown into the deep end. Department manager and senior staff don't help with training. They expect you to do it on your own, Very high staff turnover. A lot of paralegal have left my department because of the cons mentioned here. - Very poor pay (even compared to other firms which are much smaller with less revenue). - No pay increase or yearly bonuses. Expected to stay on same wage and talking about pay during work makes management unhappy. - No opportunity to progress career unless you are solicitor. Firm is very selective on this which means you could be working as a paralegal for decades without getting a training contract. - More time is spent answering colleagues phones rather than getting own work done. - Unappreciated by management often, management tends to take credit for all of your hard work. - Very high department targets which are never met as directors have set unreasonably high targets. - Department management are told info which is kept as a secret from other colleagues. This leads to a game of Chinese whispers. - Poor parking - told we got free parking but only told when you arrive on your first day that you are not allowed to park at the office. You have to park 20 minutes away at a retail park. - Department manager takes credit for all the work and any changes you recommend. No credit is give to paralegals / admin staff and sometimes even solicitors.
