Pros

Good co workers. Stepp's does stay busy with work.

Cons

The below information are factual reports on what I have witnessed and not false accusations or slander. -When given an opportunity to take on innitiative, no matter what decision you make, you get corrected on how it was wrong and then written up. -They literaly have printed paper on the walls in their dispatch office every 2 ft away from each other telling you what not to do or you are terminated from management. Building a sense of fear plays a big role in how they keep employees. -The "CFO" likes to belittle every person in the office to make himself look good, especially infront of other people, and if you dissagree with him he starts yelling at you. -The "CEO" walks in and doesn't even say hi or greet anyone. A leader should engage all level of employees to create a positive work environment. -They do not honor agreements, even if its writing, if you don't get your money before you leave you'll never see it -The expect you to work 24/7, if you're an hourly employee, they like you to clock out so you don't hit overtime and still keep working. -Drivers are treated poorly, we receive phone calls from dispatch/General Manager asking/begging us to work weekends in exchange for time off a different weekend, but when we ask off we get guilted. - Out of the drivers they have left, the only reason they stay is because they have considerable work (If money is more important than how you are treated, then this place is for you) -As a driver, if you are lucky enough to have decent paying freight, Stepps takes more than their cut on the pay, without the drivers knowledge (so Stepps thinks). This is done by lying to the drivers about what the shipment pays. Example is if a shipment actually pays $5000, they will tell the driver it pays $4500 and then deduct expenses from the lesser amount "skimming" $500 from the top number, pocketing it before drivers get our cut. This does not happen all the time, but enough that it is noticed. -Office environment is very unprofessional, there is a lot of cursing and other vulgarities.

Pros

you'll get a pay check

Cons

this is merely my opinion. what do i know, i only work here. This company hires drivers to work 72 hours per week and calls that the minimum. Realistically, they expect you to be willing to work as long as they want for no extra pay. The company has a policy that you are expected to pay for damage to anything. If a vehicle is damaged in towing, they'll try to make you pay for the entire damages. If your work truck is damaged, they'll try to make you pay for all damages. If your truck is damaged, not only do you get to pay for the parts, but they also bill you for labor to repair the truck. This can result in you getting to work for months for essentially nothing. They will ask you to sign a stack of forms during hiring agreeing to waive nearly all your legal rights. I wonder why. If your truck needs maintenance, well that's what your day off is for. You already work 6 days at 12+ hours a day, but you can take your truck to the shop on your day off for free. Realistically, I'd say they want 80-85 hours per week. You are paid by the day and in their opinion, that day can be as long as they feel like they need you. They hire people for a location, but send them somewhere else over 30 miles away from where they were hired to work. That happened to a guy they hired recently. They seem to call you while you're not at work most days. Generally speaking, nobody seems to have any idea what is going on. Decisions are made by who knows. If you want to make slightly above minimum wage, be an "operator" expected to figure out any problem, work hours for free everyday, and possibly be billed thousands of dollars for any damage to include a flat tire that Stepp's claims is your fault, then this is the place for you. They claim their drivers are making all this commission. Not from what I see. In no way is this place somewhere I would recommend. On the flip side, they do hire felons. They certainly do. The company seems to have been in a constant state of hiring for years. It's a revolving door. I'd guess the average driver is with the company under a year, possibly even under six months average. The health benefits are minimal. I personally doubt the company pays for much of it. Take home pay for a driver is on average 650 dollars a week or less. I'd say an average work week is roughly 78 hours. You do the math. You'd be better off working at WalMart where you have some chance of being promoted into something. I'd consider this an absolute dead end company to work in with no reason to work here. I do not know of any other cdl or equipment job that pays so little with so many hours.

Pros

Fellow drivers very knowledgeable. And Dispatch when they listen to what their drivers need.

Cons

Definitely needs a new maintenance program and management really needs a reality check.
