Read the reviews that specifically talk about marketing, not the factory. Have enough sense to recognize that the only decent reviews are scams written by the company or people who work in the plant, not the office. Connect on link ed in with some people who have worked in the marketing department. There are a lot of ex-employees who would gladly share their experiences to help you avoid the worst mistake of your career. Everyone reads the reviews and thinks it can't be that bad... until they uproot their lives for this nightmarish company. It rarely takes long for new employees to see what's really happening. Unfortunately, highly skilled people leave long term positions and some even move their families across the country for these jobs, and rarely last even a year.
They hire some amazing people, who are promised the world, with plans for “innovative new national product launches”- those marketing campaigns will never actually happen. If you're interviewing, ask them what they did with their previous products, they will blame prior employees or any other excuse they can think of. The truth is that they constantly develop new products and don't market or support them whatsoever. Expect to be available 24/7, even on vacations, Sundays, etc. They have no respect for your personal time. You will be on mandatory meaningless conference calls every Sunday, they often retract your vacation time with no notice, and even call people back from vacations on a whim.
They hire and fire often and without any justification. Average turn around is 6 months. That is, unless you are related. Sales leadership is ridiculously unqualified, and blames poor performance on marketing, deflecting from total incompetence with irrational tantrums and childish outbursts. You will be screamed at, intimidated and treated like trash. Regardless of your experience, education, or qualifications- if you express an opinion, or dare to disagree with anything, you are let go without a second thought, like the many before you.
Upper management encourages drama and blame-shifting, hires and fires on a whim, brings in a steady stream of overpaid consultants to try to find fault with everything. These consultants generally last a matter of days before recognizing that the situation can't be fixed, because it all stems from horrible incompetence and unpredictability of upper management.
