Toxic place that is imploding

Pros

The stock investing domain is interesting

Cons

Our CTO and Co-Founder was just let go by the board. She would yell at people both in meetings (including at the CEO), but in the main pit on a regularly basis. She was a real terror to work with. We're glad she's gone but we had been telling the CEO for a long time about her antics. CEO is completely clueless and micro-managing. His background is not in tech. Not to mention he is a very uninspiring and inexperienced leader. There is no trust in the company and we feel like we can be fired any day. Instead of an open, collaborative environment typical of tech and startups, it is very closed-off and operates only a "need-to-know basis". This is because the CEO was an attorney all his life and has the opposite qualities of what a tech CEO should have. Very toxic environment. A lot of the recent positive reviews written in March/April were by the CTO and are fake. Look how close the reviews are to one another and how similar they sound. If you're still not convinced, please talk to any employee who works there in private off-the-record. Nearly everyone is looking for a job and knows the leadership is horrible. I'm looking aggressively.

Pros

Interesting product space, little management of tech choices (for better or worse), friendly people

Cons

Little process and strategic planning, lack of company focus, inexperienced founders leading to lack of delegation and things being dropped on the floor, company lacking mission and vision, company started with outsource of tech to cheap contractors - lots of tech debt

Thank you for the feedback. We have started our strategic planning process to codify our approach to the next year and improve our focus on the biggest priorities. We are also starting a process to engage employees to define and refine our culture where one aspect will be how we handle decision making and decentralizing it where that makes sense. We have a long way to go but the change has started. Thank you again for the feedback that helps us improve.
