Pros

Coworkers are great. They make it a fun place to come in and work. Interesting projects with challenging and constantly varied tasks. You get to wear a lot of hats and the fast-paced environment will really put you to the test. It's great if you like to dig in and get your hands dirty and learn. This is a company where you will need to figure things out on your own, you won't have your hands held so it's a good place if you enjoy a challenging environment without a lot of structure. The company tries to keep a start up culture with ping-pong, beer kegs, Fireball Fridays (yes, you too can do shots in the office!) and quarterly awards parties.

Cons

You are expected to be up to speed in unreasonable amounts of time on products that take a long time to master. You will often be put in front of customers as experts when you are new, this can be really difficult if you are a person who isn't good at being dishonest or like being on the spot. There will be very little leadership or guidance. If you are a developer you will need to split your time among many projects. The split time is not done in a way that actually contributes to the overall completion or success of the project but simply to sum up total hours so management can report that all employees are billable and that all projects have staffed hours even if tasks cannot be accomplished in those hours. I found it difficult to work with a management team who had never worked in software development. Your manager will not be technical, she will not understand the technical problems you are attempting to solve and it creates a lot of unneeded chaos for working across multiple projects. Additionally, there is a lot of very dishonest business practices that staff is asked to partake in. This made the work environment very uncomfortable to stay in long term and makes it hard to feel like you are giving customers a good and valuable experience.

Pros

First and foremost, the culture – this company knows how to have fun. Work can get stressful, it's nice to work somewhere that recognizes it's okay to take a break and let off some steam – they even supply nerf guns, ping pong, board games, etc. They also host quarterly awards parties to recognize team members’ achievements and anniversaries – there’s always a reason to celebrate something at Stone Cobra! The management team, including the owners, are very involved in all aspects of the business; down to customer engagement and employee growth. The management team is committed to employee growth which is a big 'pro' to me. My direct manager and I created a customized growth plan and met regularly to establish new growth plan objectives. This was key in my success while at Stone Cobra and enabled me to develop new skills that have helped me flourish as a Project Manager in software development. They have nice benefits too, such as unlimited PTO and the ability to work remotely. For me it's about working somewhere that I am challenged, can grow, enjoy and respect the people I work with, and can always look forward to coming to work - Stone Cobra was definitely that place for me. Although I no longer work at Stone Cobra, I established many long lasting friendships with my old cobra's and frequently visit the office to say hi and have lunch with.

Cons

There really are no 'cons' I can think of, I genuinely enjoyed every single day that I worked at Stone Cobra. Any place you work is going to have something that bothers you, gets on your nerves, and sometimes it just depends on the kind of day you're having. Stone Cobra provided enough stress to keep me challenged and push my limits, and at the end of the day it all helped me grow and become better at my job. There are definitely more positive things I can say about this place than negative.

Pros

Good industry with a lot of growth potential

Cons

Ownership/management extremely controlling with propensity for blatant favortism for only those who blindy follow all that Owner puts forth without question and/or further input.
