Pros

Promised sound benefits and work/life balance most of the time, and delivered on that promise. Design team is full of talented, compassionate people. Good intentions on the built product they were producing: urban infill development. Benefits were fantastic! Keep reading...

Cons

Wreckless leadership, an absolute laughing stock of financial organization. Continuously changed our payroll structure with no notice, not even 24 hrs. Constantly missing payroll and gaslighted these issues as "nothing to worry about, long term." Long term? Owes many, many employees (some 80-100 or more) about a month's wages and two months' benefits. Terminated employment for these folks and went silent on payout dates. Lied to staff for two months claiming payroll couldn't be made but health benefits were still active, and top priority. Then nearly defaulted on healthcare premiums and almost caused employees tons of medical bills in unresolved claims that no one was aware of. Appreciate that they saved it at the end of a stressful waiting period. Owe(d) consultants, subcontractors, etc fees for months and months. Constantly paused work for a lack of payment strategy to everyone we were working with. Where's our money, Storybuilt? You can terminate 100 people on a whim, but you can't steal their paychecks to pay your other debts. We worked for you and we trusted your leadership, how are we to pay OUR bills?

Pros

I had an amazing manager who allowed me to have autonomy in my role, weekly touch bases with as much transparency into the state of the company given lack of transparency from executives. Business concept is cool

Cons

-Not a challenging work environment or growth opportunities horrible executive leadership..that will lie or omit the truth when it's imperative to staff. -Financials are in shambles. Pay schedule was changed constantly with little prior notice to employees -Company did not have enough money to pay their bills let alone their staff causing their staff's reputation to be at stake -The CEO, COO & CPO lack the skills to run a business successfully and lack compassion & gratitude for their staff -Does not pay their employees. If you want to work for weeks or months without pay then maybe work here -Furloughed twice within less than 3 months due to lack of funds -People leadership is HORRIBLE. I never once had monthly 1:1's with HR leadership on personal growth, development, future of the company, or just overall asking how my wellbeing is given I was impacted by a furlough twice.

Pros

Haha. Honestly the only place I’ve ever worked that was this much of a MESS.

Cons

My time at Storybuilt was an absolute nightmare, and I feel it's essential to share my experience on Glassdoor to warn others. The company displayed a complete lack of integrity, misappropriating funds, and had terrible leadership at every level. From day one, I noticed the company's misleading messaging, which left employees feeling deceived and undervalued. The only mode of communication provided was through Microsoft Teams, which made it challenging to have transparent and genuine conversations with management. The most disheartening aspect was the mass layoff that happened without any prior warning or severance package. It was a sudden and distressing experience for everyone involved. To add insult to injury, lapses in insurance coverage occurred because the company failed to pay the employer's portion despite withholding the employee's share. As if that wasn't enough, the company frequently struggled with payroll, resulting in late payments, which caused significant financial stress for employees. Currently, the company owes back pay, and there has been zero communication regarding when we can expect compensation.
