Pros

Fun experiences Work can be busy and time will fly by You sometimes feel like a champion helping out customers Christian Ethnics (Kind of fading away thanks Ken Diehl)

Cons

Management Corporate Place is going downhill lately which is why I left, new management came in and basically FORCED a four year manager to quit due to constant stress. People that use to belong to Wise-Way were getting let go left and right to bring in the new. I use to LOVE everything about my job before new management came in, bullied everyone, and made me lose a (use to be) great companies respect. NW people, shop at your local Jewel instead. (P.S. My brother was in the hospital for having multiple seizures, and had to hospitalized, when I asked for the days off they gave me attitude about it and talked to me about losing my job. REALLY?)

Cons

This company has been sliding down a slope of unsuccessfulness since Central Grocers (Centrella Brand) brought in new clowns to their corperate office. These people came from failing companies, maybe not failing now since they're gone but, brought into a once successful company and are slowly killing it. When hired in, they cleaned house. People who had been with the company for decades were told "Your services are no longer needed here." From corporate to management. So then they brought in their buddies. Some with seedy work histories. Guess that kinda thing isn't important to some companies. They don't want to here the opinions of employees who are actually running the stores because, they know all the answers already. What areas sell certain items better than other locations. Well, if it sells in the wealthier areas it will sell in the low income areas too. That's their level of thinking. They've raised prices, lost customers, .remdeled stores, given away gift cards in hopes to bring people in. These do temporarily but, this is like putting a bandaid on a broken arm. It doesn't work. Sales are down because their techniques clearly failed so, what happens next? You cut hours of the employees running the stores as a way to make up for your mistakes. Departments run on slim hours as it is and more workload is put on dept. heads and managers. Then when the store isn't up to snuff they wanna know why? They want blame others than themselves. We can't force people to buy items. The names on the buildings are pretty much just that. Central has majority ownership of the stores. Not the family owned businesses of before when they were more involved.

Pros

The company is in the food retail business, and people will always need to eat. Its a job. Nothing more.

Cons

Its a terrible place to work. If you are a manager and looking to come work for this company do yourself a favor and take my advice. Look somewhere else. You will not be appreciated. You will not feel fulfillment. You will not be rewarded. You will be expected to give up most of your personal life. You will be expected to run stores on a minimum of staff yet keep up high customer service standards. The corporate team will change their minds so much its impossible to keep up. The new corporate leaders took over at the end of 2014 and have destroyed the business. A business they did not build. The only vested interest they seem to have is to hire their buddies from failed operations such as A&P. i think every manager I know wishes they could find another place to work.
