High-Tech Excellence Marred by Departmental Politics
Pros
I’m giving this 2 stars because a company is only as good as its leadership. While the benefits, travel, and fellow engineers are top-tier, the culture is dictated by "J." If you are on her good side, you’re fine. If not, your merit as an engineer won't save you. It is disappointing to see politics influence professional standing to this degree. Most engineers here are looking over their shoulders. If you can avoid "J," it’s a dream job. If you can't, it's a minefield. The Work: Engaging projects where time flies; 14-hour days feel like 4 because the tech is so interesting. The Team: Brilliant, helpful engineers and a direct supervisor who is technically sharp and supportive. Perks: Great benefits, generous PTO, and fantastic travel opportunities to see the world.
Cons
Internal Politics: There is a significant culture issue centered around a specific leader ("J"). Management style is often based on personal preference rather than engineering merit. Toxic Atmosphere: Political discussions have bled into the workplace, creating an environment where people feel their job security is tied to their personal views or whether they are "liked" by "J."
