Going downhill fast

Pros

You're allowed to work on your own and as long as you get your work done, you're generally not bothered too much. Most of the people are very friendly and easy to get along with. Really like my coworkers.

Cons

No feedback, terrified of layoffs after the last six months, pay is below industry standard, no real room for advancement despite multiple promises. I used to feel like they held a carrot on a stick, but lately it seems like they're just using the stick and have done away with the carrot.

Pros

Relative stability in the market until Federal funding cuts started. Remote work.

Cons

Salary below industry. Raises are minimal. Employee turnover high starting late 2023. Favoritism and protection of employees that have been with the company for 8+ years. Nepotism including husband-wife teams employed by the company creating a questionable work environment in an organization with 130 people.

Company Struggles with Transparency and Innovation

Pros

Job security if you are part of the close-knit family or friend network. Ability to win contracts due to being the cheapest option in the market. Can provide short-term experience, though limited in scope.

Cons

No real opportunities for job growth or career progression. The company itself shows little to no growth, despite leadership’s claims. Culture is nepotistic, with leadership and many roles filled by family or close friends instead of qualified professionals. Misleading product practices: clients are told a solution exists while developers rush to build it after the fact. Outdated and inconsistent frontend design, with poor user experience that feels stuck decades behind modern standards. Technology is built on free open-source software with no real investment in testing, automation, or stability. The focus on being the cheapest option results in buggy, incomplete, and poorly supported products. CEO lacks transparency, often making overly optimistic statements before following up with layoffs. Management is ineffective and stays in power due to tenure and relationships, not ability or merit.
