Feedback Regarding Office Setup and Team Collaboration and overall experience
Pros
I don’t have anything important to share. I’ve been working here for 7–8 months, fully remote, even though I was initially told I’d be working on-site. I don’t know anything about the office facilities or how things work there. All I’ve been doing is working remotely with a team I don’t even know what they’re like personally. All I know is the quality of their work. That said, they’re definitely skilled people, and I’ve been learning new things from them. Their projects aren’t boring, and the codebase is well maintained that's all I can say.
Cons
Here,I have something important to share. I’m really frustrated with the people responsible for organizing and managing the office whether that’s the team in Sweden or Bangladesh, I’m not sure. I’ve been working here for 8 months now. When I joined, they couldn’t even provide me with a proper seat to work from. So basically, they shifted me from an on-site position to fully remote. But I’m the kind of person who struggles with remote work. And now, I’m being forced to work remotely full-time. To be honest, remote jobs typically pay 40% more than on-site roles, because when you’re remote, you have to manage a lot on your own. Yet, the only support they’ve provided is a 1,000 Taka internet reimbursement. Seriously? That’s a joke. Internet support should be a given especially since we were told the role would be hybrid, and we often have to support customers outside regular office hours. In official meetings, they talk a lot about positive things. But I don’t see any of that being implemented in the Bangladesh office. Maybe those positive developments are happening in the Sweden office but they don’t benefit us in any way. They’ve been telling us for the last 5 months that they’re "working on completing the office." Still, nothing has happened. They keep missing deadlines is this a joke? If we, as developers, kept failing to meet client project deadlines, we’d likely be suspended or face serious consequences. Yet, I don’t see any indication that the management team is taking the office relocation or setup seriously Right now, what keeps coming to my mind is that the people responsible for this task are, in my opinion, completely failing at this moment . They should either refocus or bring in more manpower to get it done as soon as possible. The office was supposed to be ready by October 15, but now they've come up with some strange excuse for why they can’t complete it. And the funniest part? They can’t even provide a new deadline. Seriously? Did they even do any proper preparation? In our projects, we spend countless hours on preparation, analysis, and documentation under pressure. Didn’t they do the same? What I see is a clueless team that is absolutely failing in their responsibilities. They keep asking us to cooperate and support, and we've been doing that for the past 6–7 months by working from home. I even changed my house and rented a bigger one just to have an extra room for a calm workspace, so that my work doesn't affect my family's lifestyle. But how long are we expected to keep cooperating at our own expense? We don’t earn a high salary to bear this burden, and house rent in Dhaka is very expensive. We've already been managing this for the last 6–7 months. (Some of the elites are able to manage, but not all of us are part of that elite club.) Also, there are some people who are clearly taking advantage of the work from home periods . I honestly don’t even know if they’re actually working. Whenever I message or call them, they don’t respond in a timely manner sometimes they reply 1 or 2 hours later. What is this supposed to be? Some kind of “ Office coolness attitude inspired from social media ”? Like, "hey dude I saw your message, but I won’t respond and i will pretend i didn’t saw that massage ,just to i want show you how cool i am and want show my attitude? or whatever” Is that the vibe?
