Words can't describe how bizarre working for Submission Technology is - it was hands down the strangest experience of my life. Here's some examples of the goings on in head office that I experienced/witnessed: - Co-director purposely causing damage to an employee's vehicle "for a laugh", causing him to crash due to faulty brakes on the way home from work. Said employee left the business after director refused to issue an apology. - Multiple citations from the ASA (the specific citations are available publicly on ASA's website) due to illegal advertising practices seen as hilarious by senior management. - Directors literally becoming involved in a physical fight in the middle of the office floor over a website's design. - Website created advertising a fake partnership with a well known charity in order to make a quick buck. - Casual sexism and other forms of discrimination amongst certain members of senior management accepted and at times actively encouraged. - Creation of several incentive website properties (eg. cashback ladders) on which the business consciously fails to pay its members. Such activity was subject of an expose in The Guardian, and has not changed since. Reading what I've written above, it really is hard (even for myself) to believe some of those points are true - amazingly they all are! Submission Technology is the most ethically redundant business in the industry - anyone who is anyone in online marketing will tell you the same. My experience working with them filled me with anger, upset but most of all wonderment that a business so blatantly flouting guidelines continues to operate in pretty much the same way it always has.

Over bearish, dogged senior management style. Very little trust in employees to manage their own time and work loads. Zero flexibility on working hours. An overall lack of forward thinking, planning and innovation. It's seen as an easier task to fall back on old proven methods rather than develop something futuristic and revolutionary when the technical talent is clearly available to do so. Very little, if any planning of training for employees. In a year I don't think I was once asked how the company could improve my knowledge for the position I worked in to help me advance in my role or career. The company was awarded "Investors in people" but it's very hard to see any actionable elements of this within the workplace, it's more a badge of honour and such practises to earn the badge certainly weren't continued onwards whilst I was there. There are persistent issues of sexism and harassment which can sometimes be of a sexual nature, albeit from a very small percentage of staff, this however was taken up with the owner and to my knowledge has gone completely unactioned, unacceptable. A blatant disregard for advertising standards and laws around this, personal user data is not encrypted to a satisfactory level and were an attack to happen a very large amount of private data would be leaked into the public domain. Multiple and blatant false advetisements to wrongfully engage users into participating in external product signups for a reward; in reality most of which are unobtainable or frankly not worth it for the time. A quick Google search of the company name will list an enitre range of examples of this behaviour.
