Pros

There are seriously smart people here. You won’t want to deal with red tape or annoying PMs. Product is real and somewhat interesting. Comp is good, but really nothing insane if you’re a legitimately talented engineer like they’re looking for.

Cons

Nasser is kind a caricature of a startup founder. Hire fast, fire fast is used to justify stupid decisions. There’s very little nuance in most conversations. Bias for action ends up being used as a mask for incompetence.

Pros

Pay is good and interesting product. Smart and kind employees, though they never stay long term

Cons

Culture: Problems start at the top with the 2 founders. Their backgrounds are spotty and opaque, their people skill are lacking. They take pride in wanting to hire only star players but once these star players raised concerns, they fire them on a whim. Everyone who is hired has to go through an 8-week trial period and more than half of new employees hired in the last 6 months got fired during this trial period for bringing up valid alarming issues regarding toxic work culture or cumbersome processes. Employees who manage to onboard themselves and survive the trial period are subjected to micro-management and over-reporting - they burn out within 4 to 8 months due to mistreatment or, like mentioned earlier, get fired for trying to push for positive changes. Product: There is no unified product vision as there is no heads of product or product managers. High number of employees who left abruptly caused a big loss in knowledge transfer and no singular person at the company really understands how all the features of the product work together. Development of new features or improvement of existing ones are difficult due to this lack of personnel and vision Engineering: Engineers and heads of engineering are spread thin because the aforementioned lack of product talents and convoluted systems. They have to prove to leadership why they deserve to have a job on a weekly basis via daily and weekly report. Customers: Clients are all churning at an alarming rate

Pros

- Opportunity to meet some good people, but they usually don't last more than 3-4 weeks. - Pay is good

Cons

- Toxic environment, you can get fired for posting messages in a wrong slack channel - Major employee churn created a large architecture debt, no-one knows how everything works, what was sold or promised to customers, and what needs to be delivered since all the people who worked on it are gone - Massive customer churn related to architecture debt and underperforming product
