Pros

- Competitive pay - Fun co-workers

Cons

- Management doesn't offer support during times of growth - Marketing has sneaky promotions, leaves CS to deal with the fallout - Veterans are given less support and encouragement, new hires are coddled

Sunbasket Response

Sorry to hear that your experience within Sun Basket's Customer Service team has been less than positive of late. Please know that we value all you have given the company thus far, and that we consider the Customer Service team an integral part of our company. The explosion of growth in January took everyone by surprise and it would not be controversial to say that we were caught flat-footed. We have responded by hiring more people for the team, but training and development took time to catch up to the higher volume. It is our hope that with the team scaled to the proper size, the burden on each individual representative will lessen. We are also hiring more managers so that the rep to manager ratio will improve and we can continue to provide support to our veterans who have been shining bright since we were a 100 person west-coast only operation. In summation: we hear you, and are working on improving things. Hopefully, our efforts will be successful.

Poorly managed and not what it used to be

Pros

-The people who aren't managers and get the nitty-gritty work done in the day-to-day are the best part of working at Sun Basket. They're all hard-working, dedicated, smart, and fun to work with. -Unlimited PTO -50% discount on product

Cons

This company used to be a fun start-up to work at but 2 rounds of restructuring within 3 months killed the culture, the energy in the office, and made it difficult to understand the companies priorities. It feels like the CEO makes a lot of empty promises and there's a lack of clarity about the company's future and goals beyond trying to become profitable. -Everyone is overworked and doing the job of 3+ people. There's no support and when you tell your manager that you're struggling to keep up with everything because of a lack of resources the answer is just a shoulder shrug and a promise that things will "get better soon once we become profitable." But that response was followed by lay-offs so it feels like the company is a sinking ship. "Hang in there" is also their excuse when you try to get anything close to market rate for your position or for all of the work that you do. They don't value creative work in the way that they value marketing and it's blatantly obvious to the team in a way that's super discouraging to those who put in OT working on creative projects. -They seem to be skirting a lot of their values in favor of turning their product into something that might be more profitable than a meal kit and it feels like they're grabbing at straws. It's hard to watch and it's hard to be a part of and I'm not surprised that so many people are jumping ship since the lay-offs. I wish the company well because of the great people who work there but I'm glad to have moved on.
