Inhumane Conditions

Pros

Literally none besides 20% on the overpriced products available here.

Cons

- Employees are subjected to unsafe and inhumane working conditions, including being required to work in an uninsulated store during stormy weather below 50°F and extreme heat exceeding 100°F. The store provides neither air conditioning nor adequate heating. A wood stove exists but is frequently nonfunctional, unused, and wholly insufficient to heat the store. Customers routinely complained about the temperatures and openly remarked that employees were being treated inhumanely. - Employees are expected to immediately memorize and flawlessly recall over 150 produce and bulk item codes without access to reference materials, an unrealistic and punitive expectation that sets staff up for failure rather than success. - Training and supervision are characterized by unprofessional and demeaning conduct by Brenda. During my second day, my trainer openly mocked and laughed at me in front of customers for not having memorized all item codes. This elderly cashier employee has a documented pattern of hostile behavior toward both employees and customers, which has reportedly caused multiple employees to transfer departments or resign. - Management enables and normalizes customer abuse. Verbal harassment, screaming, and intimidation toward employees are permitted without consequence. Intervention reportedly occurs only after customers physically harm staff or other customers, creating a hostile, unsafe, and negligent work environment. - Employees are penalized or terminated without warning for illness or injury, even when supported by a doctor’s note, demonstrating a blatant disregard for basic human decency. - There is no meaningful feedback or performance management. Instead, management discusses concerns behind employees’ backs. - Compensation practices reflect a lack of respect for employees’ labor. Raises are rare and, when granted, are typically limited to $0.25 increments, providing no meaningful recognition of performance

Pros

You are surrounded by organic fruits and veggies.

Cons

I was let go after a week because I couldn't memorize the hundreds of produce codes due to my disabilities. It is clear to me that this company does not comply with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act.) Store does not have air conditioning and does not update itself with the modern world.
