Pros

Easy to maintain hours. Location is easy to get to. Love the children and parental relationships!

Cons

Management is oblivious to needs, pay is not competitive in relation to other nearby schools. No 401K matching, sub-par vacation system. Teachers always call out and you are left to pickup their slack. The building is older than Noah's Ark. The playground looks like a prison yard. Floors / internal infrastructure is outdated and dirty.

Pros

Monday thru Friday work schedule. The Sunshine House is willing to help pay for your degree in related job fields.

Cons

The pay is fairly low with no chance of getting a raise. The environment is filthy compared to other child care facilities I have worked at. You are expected to drive to other facilities when they are short staffed. All facilities are short staffed. All of the staff is unprofessional. The management picks favorites. Staff bullies and behaves unprofessionally against all of the best interests of the children. The funding is low, so you are expected to provide supplies to your classroom under the false pretense that they will "reimburse you." There is little praise. They were not following any of the required guidelines to stay accredited. When I questioned management about this, I was told I was wrong, despite the employee handbook stating what I had said. They of course lost points when inspectors came. Children were always shuffled from room to room. Infants were not cared for, except for feeding. Alot of parent complaints, for good reason. You are expected to do overtime with out any notice.

Pros

Working at Sunshine House allows care providers to continue education in the field with room for personal growth while nurturing, protecting and guiding young children. Their mission is to provide Quality Care to each family each day. They also have an outlined curriculum which is a tool for success for the children and the teacher.

Cons

The problem I have come across is lots of veteran employees do not have education and are not aware of the new brain study results and other key information to providing quality care. When people who are educated come to work there... they dont always welcome us. I have seen some things that I just do not stand for. I have transferred and saw the same things. I also saw managers cover up things even district managers. Manager was not open to suggestions and kind of caused separation between older and newer employees. I cannot speak for every Sunshine House, But I saw two that has mastered Cover up.... MOLD gets painted over. They only went by the book when DSS or corporate was coming. The ratio system is often a problem when you have non motivated employees, who call out regularly.
