Almost, but not quite.

Pros

Laid back environment, friendly staff (for the most part), beer on Fridays and access to gym classes.

Cons

Laid back environment - too laid back some may say. The company as a whole has a very nonchalant approach to workloads. Some members of upper management are less 'leaders' and more sponges. Information passed on from lower in the chain often makes it into their presentations and meetings without credit and as if it were their own. There are a number of "cliques" within the company if you're not within them, expect complete disregard for your existence (unless they need to work with you, then you can expect an email).

HI and thank you. Sorry that your experience hasn't been as good as you or we world want, and appreciate your comments and that you titled this 'Almost, but not quite'. Having feedback like this helps us make life for our people better and highlights where we need to work harder. We are working to make sure that all staff feel that they are supported and recognised for their work, especially by those leading the business. We have initiated working groups from across the business to help develop how we do this and will keep developing how we recognise what you do. With regards the experience you had with information/presentation passed on to your line manager, I can only offer my apologies and please be reassured that your comments will be acted upon. You mention 'cliques', we try to encourage people to be as inclusive and initiatives like the Friday beers you noted and others that we are working on will help this further. But we also want our people to be responsible in helping us break down these when they encounter them. Please do feel free to contact the People Team to arrange a time to discuss. We want you to feel that you are appreciated and rewarded for your work, effort and input into the business, we haven't quite got there yet it seems. Once again thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback and I hope that over the next coming weeks/months that we can make work a more rewarding place to be. Regards, George People & Culture Manager

Pros

Surfdome is a very warm and welcoming company very different to a lot of other clothing businesses out there! There is a great feeling of, you get out what you put in, with hard work being rewarded and it really makes you dedicated to strive for the company's success. Since I started, Surfdome has been working hard to improve the culture within the business. We get drinks every Friday in the office, giving everyone a chance to socialise and mix with different teams, and each morning we are offered cereal and fruit! There is 5-aside football, yoga sessions and gym sessions organised along with plenty of socials such as Christmas and Summer parties! Surfdome loves to have fun!

Cons

There are still a few improvements needed in terms of benefits such as increasing holiday allowance for each year of work and adding in a few more perks, but we have been assured these are being worked on and Surfdome is getting better and better!

Pros

Not many. Staff discount. Organised social activities which are fun if a clique has adopted you.

Cons

I worked as a member of the buying team and from day one I experienced a snobby, cliquey environment that made no effort to include me. If you're not part of their social standard they don't seem to have much time for you. I was repeatedly criticised for my work but no formal training was given even when asked for. My role was unclear and often I felt like a dogsbody. The wage is extremely low and you receive three sick days a year. They also made it extremely uncomfortable when I told them I was handing my notice in and tried to get me to work longer than my notice period.

HI, I would like to offer a sincere apology on behalf of the company. Thank you for leaving the feedback and I hope that you have since found a role that you enjoy and are happy in. We have recently started to develop our 'On-Boarding' process and training as people move further into their roles. We hope that this will help with integration into the team and the wider business. We value diversity and want to make sure that everyone that joins the business feels welcome and comfortable. We wont always get this right, but we will keep trying to improve.
