Pros

They're good at finding great people to work there. You'll love your teammates even if you hate the management. Nice location and office space. I loved this job for the first year or so, but as you stay, you realize that no amount of fun or awesome co-workers can make up for stability.

Cons

Metrics, leadership style, goals, the entire direction of the organization change daily. You'll see in the defensive responses from the CEO the type of personality you're dealing with. Employee handbooks do change, but they shouldn't change weekly. Only at Switchgear. And it's not just policy, it's metrics, commission structures, vacation, benefits, etc. You're always chasing a moving target. I was with this company for several years and saw at least 3 different "managers" brought in but never given any real power to lead (or they were undermined at every turn if they tried to take initiative). The CEO is a lovely person on the surface, but she should not be in charge of people. There's no consistent vision, and she'll turn on you faster than you can blink. Her family member occasionally comes into the office and decides he's the manager, even though he knows nothing about recruiting. Whether you have a great day or a terrible day does not depend on what you accomplish that day, rather it depends on their mood. And when they're stressed, EVERYONE gets threatened. It's not healthy, and it doesn't appear that much has changed since 2016 in that regard. Beyond all this, she'll fight you on paying commissions (which is most of your income). You sign that new employee handbook one day, then BAM! you're suddenly not getting paid for work you did.

I super appreciate you taking the time to write this review but I'm honestly really confused. Things that you mention that happen, haven't happened in years. My husband has NEVER come to the office to assume control of the organization. I've been CEO for 3.5 years now. I'd love to speak with you further about this-feel free to reach out directly to me. Pros

Knowledgeable leadership, relaxed atmosphere, great company culture, generous compensation plan.

Cons

It is a very small company so the opportunity for growth is just not available. The dependency on the economy (ie. Oil & Gas Clients, an election year (2020)). It can be a fickle industry when working on executive positions.

Pros

Great culture. Management is very involved and they truly care about the employees. Great work-life balance and management understands that the majority of their employees are working mothers. The perks and rewards (including team events, birthday celebrations, work anniversaries, etc that the company pays for) makes it the best place that I have been employed at. Management also sets goals for employees to hit and if they hit them, they offer half days (paid) off.

Cons

Office is in downtown Tulsa. The drive can be brutal but will make the drive since I actually like going to work:)

Thanks for this review! Downtown has it's pros and cons for sure but I'm thrilled that you enjoy coming to work every day. With such a small number of employees, it is important to us that big decisions aren't heavy-handed "top down" decisions as much as we can. I'm glad it makes you feel empowered.
