      Sales

      Pros

Fellow sales team members were usually great folks with a genuine ambition to succeed and help one another. The company offers a wide range of career paths for those looking to differentiate their work experience. The company's investment in fibre infrastructure throughout BC and Alberta is an exceptional undertaking that will benefit Canada for decades to come.

      Cons

Management was constantly in a state of flux and emergency and not willing to address shortcomings in leadership in sales or other departments across the company. As with all large corporations it is who you know not what you know. This is not inherently bad but it has lead to a current culture of back scratching and protectionism. Sales management continue to rework the compensation structure however it has lead to even loftier targets and less money paid out to the employees. With the AB economic downturn most companies are in a state of cutting staff and services. There is nothing that the sales exec can do about this however this directly affects the compensation of the exec and then management point to poor performance. There was no action on the part of developing/training employees just negativity and demotivating pressure around performance and targets.

Constant Fear and musical chairs leadership

      Pros

Most of the actual work is pretty good. The perks can be amazing with all the various discounts and the extended health mental health dollars is second to none.

      Cons

Every few months, the executive level goes through a round of musical chairs, especially on the health and payment systems side. This causes absolute utter chaos. You get half way through the previous reorg priorities before you have to drop all your work and get to work on the new reorg priorities. And for some reason, let's layoff 100 people even though we'll just need to hire them or replacement back over the next 6 months to a year. It's absolutely ludicrous. They rule through fear, despite wanting to increase employee engagement. It's total utter hyprocrisy.

      Pros

Thought leadership in policy and in new business opportunities Pursuing new business opportunities in new industries and geographic areas. Well managed, good benefits for employees, lots of management to team communications. Flexible work arrangements Positive, supportive tone for work-environment comes from the top

      Cons

A lot of personnel and structural change lately, a certain amount of chaos Middle of the road compensation and opportunities to move beyond the Director level Can be very demanding at times, depending on initiatives Very geared towards remote working (even before the pandemic) due to team being nationally dispersed

      Pros

      1. Overall great company culture 2. Lots of opportunities to learn different lines of business 3. Benefits at TELUS is comparable to Google & Amazon in Canada

      Cons

      1. There are some good leaders in the company but most are lost, confused, or with a legacy mindset of 1990's 2. There are a lot of politics & bureaucracy; similar to any big companies but not as bad as many Canadian banks 3. There are a lot of opportunities at the working level but very limited growth opportunities to move up the ladder 4. TELUS used to be considered as a high-tech company in the 2000's but exciting high-tech opportunities are very rare within TELUS in recent years
