I never thought I’d need to write a review like this, but after my experience with TLC Properties, I feel it’s important to share my perspective with others. While renting from them has had its positives and negatives, my experience as an employee has been one of the most draining and disheartening I’ve ever had.
I’m grateful for the friendships I’ve made along the way and the lessons that have helped me grow as a person. However, for nearly three years, I endured immense stress, unsafe working conditions, and a lack of support from management. I was placed at a "luxury" property that didn’t even have basic safety measures like security cameras, and residents and staff alike were often left without essential services, such as running water, for extended periods. These issues were allowed to persist for years.
When TLC Properties was founded, I believe the vision was to provide a positive impact in Springfield. However, that vision seems to have been lost over time. The company is now plagued by constant leadership changes, with many of the current leaders seeming ill-equipped for their roles. Over the years, I have worked under several managers, many of whom lacked the necessary skills to lead effectively, which only made my job more difficult.
As I grew within the company, I often found myself fighting to advocate for residents while attempting to ensure fair housing practices were followed. Unfortunately, work orders and maintenance requests were often delayed or handled improperly. Higher-priority items—often personal requests from management—were always addressed first, while residents' basic needs went unmet. The lack of staffing and empathy within the company contributed to these delays, but the deeper issue seemed to be financial struggles, leading to layoffs and further disruption. Unfortunately, these issues were often covered up with false hope and occasional parties—if there was even a budget for them. Current employees shouldn't be being told that they shouldn't have job security, as that is actually insane.
For anyone considering a long-term career with TLC Properties, I would caution you. If you're not a "yes man," it can be difficult to progress within the company. Despite my dedication and years of service, I was ignored when I reached out for support, both financially and mentally. Meanwhile, upper management continued to collect salaries without showing genuine concern for employees or residents.
My heart truly goes out to the residents I had the privilege of working with. I sincerely hope that TLC Properties makes significant changes, not just in how they treat their residents, but also in how they treat their employees. No one should have to experience such a toxic work environment, especially in a community like Springfield, Missouri.
Ultimately, I cannot recommend TLC Properties as a place to rent from or work for. It is disheartening to see so many broken promises, unaddressed maintenance issues, and employees constantly living in fear of losing their jobs. Many of these "luxury" properties are nothing more than buildings with empty promises, deteriorating conditions, and a lack of genuine care for either residents or staff.
+my exit interview was literally mailed to me instead of being in person, and they continue to delete all bad google reviews.
