Pros

Small firm, good culture, fair pay. Room for advancement and increase to skillset.

Cons

Run lean, sometimes no clear company direction.

Pros

With being a small company you are able to "wear" many hats and get a well rounded experience.

Cons

The company seems to have a bit of a revolving door on employees and who you are working with day to day can make or break a good working environment.

Pros

Work is not challenging. Anybody can get up to speed in specific roles within 3 months. I specifically did concrete testing, lab testing, geotechnical investigations, and airport inspections. Better pay than competitors based on word of mouth. Typical work week 45 hours. Sometimes under 40. Rarely under 35. Sometimes over 50, rarely over 55. Theres a high emphasis on quality.

Cons

Field engineers with an EIT license should look to move on to better paying roles. Your ability to grow is limited in these Geotech firms.
