Pros

-There are opportunities to cover luxury events on cruise ships, visiting different countries -Departments outside editorial such as sales and design fostered fairly healthy working environments -The publication runs out of a nice office building with a gym, free coffee and snacks, a modern decor and in a good location

Cons

-There is a difficult member in the senior editorial team who talked to me in a rude and short tempered way. The rest of the team didn’t seem to experience this so I believe what motivated this behaviour towards me was my being of black heritage -Monitored taking phone calls, had movements around the office and at home questioned -Favouritism -The company has an ethos set around diversity and inclusion, however, this is mainly performative marketing with little evidence of deep or studied interest in racial equality demonstrated among staff while I was there

Pros

Great people and an interesting job.

Cons

None that I can think of. You work outside of normal hours but this is entirely expected for any job in the media or in travel. If you want a bog standard 9 to 5 job then don't be a journalist. Or work in travel.
