Pros

Even though I didn't participate - the only thing I can really think about is Thirsty Thursdays when they serve alcohol to employees - which absolutely creates liability for firm, but who am I to say? I'm just a lowly HR person with over 30 years of experience.

Cons

The board consists of internal employees who have insight into everything going on with the staff with whom they work. The President has never had ANY executive leadership experience and was promoted from an Principal Architect to President of the firm. She then hired a retired "so called" finance person to be the CFO of the company who pads his pockets and hers. As part of the two person HR team that was hired in the Fall of 2020, we were not allowed to influence or speak about things that were inappropriate and/or created a conflict of interest. When someone filed a complaint against the CFO via email, the President called them a coward and the CFO wanted to find out who filed it. After the Director quit 8 months into the role, I was the only HR person in the company and was completely ostracized and kept out of important decisions concerns employee actions and lied to about being considered as his replacement. When the Black Lives Matter explosion occurred in the wake of the George Floyd murder, the company took to IG and completely lied about the fact that they were connecting with their black employees, and the president painfully struggled to even mention it. I filed a complaint of discrimination and they happily paid me to leave because they have no intention of changing who they are. There are some good people there who recognize how the firm is being (un) lead, but it all falls on deaf ears. I absolutely believe that they have been operating like this for so long that they believe they are untouchable, but it's only a matter of time. I could go on and on about the discriminatory and unethical practices of this firm because there are several more blatant examples. I have seen a lot in my career, and I mean a lot; especially around the disparity that exists in the workforce for minorities, but to see them walk around and almost gloat in their privilege was down right sickening. If they keep operating the way they do, they will slowly destruct one brick at a time. And to that I will say, good riddance.

Pros

You receive a lot of experience when you work 80 hrs a week. Who needs sleep anyways?

Cons

Y’all. This is a company that, after laying of 40+ staff members during the covid pandemic, was convinced that it was essential to redesign their logo. Sounds logical. Let’s pay a principals nephew 100k to type out “TVS” in the Futura typeface, throw it in Illustrator, and pay for a supersized logo for the lobby. All the while the actual workforce is drowning trying to make up for the lost support. I guess what I’m trying to say is that the people in charge aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed or they just don't care about their workers. Pick your poison. I met many friends here, but TVS is a shell of what it once was. The people we needed to complete the work were laid off while upper management kept their 250k+ salaries. If you interview you will only find project managers that want to tell people what to do and interns that don’t know what to do. The meat of this burger is gone. You can either take that as an opportunity or a warning. Depends on how you want to look at life. BUT I personally guarantee that if you decide to join this firm as a mid-level designer it will be an uphill battle where you will be pressured into working 80hr weeks. You may want to factor that into your salary request.

Pros

A very nice office space

Cons

Poor leadership lacking in business savvy, overall diversity, and people engagement. Not interested in a true HR practitioner, but a yes man or woman that will adhere to their questionable and discriminatory practices.
