Pros

Enjoyed most of the engineering team

Cons

If you asked me a year ago what I thought I would have given this 5 stars. Caring leaders, teammates who seemed like they actually wanted to be there. I have whiplash from how fast the culture changed once they laid off everyone with a soul and brought in a CTO with no personality and old head mentality. They laid off most of the North American tech team to exploit cheap foreign labor for “cost benefits to hiring off shore”. Great people but disconnected from the product’s big picture leading to disjointed spaghetti code, all for the sake of “shipping faster”. They now put the workload of a bunch of people onto a few. They eliminated most of the QA team “because LinkedIn didn’t have a QA team”, so the QA will fall on developers. They basically want everyone to be both developers and QA and obedient. The CTO also said a bad manger is often a sign of a bad team when everyone knows it’s the other way around. Regardless, the CTO seems to have very little say, it’s all run by product despite epic product decision failures leading to panic to quickly undo the work that was just done. Leadership seems to fail upwards while the people doing the work pay for product’s bad choices. Oh, 1% 401k match. That’s a joke and don’t expect to receive 100% of your full bonus. By the way, I’m sure the “anonymous” 5 star reviews are from the HR team

Pros

flexible schedule, generally nice people to work with, complex and challenging projects

Cons

engineers are treated like disposable resources, pay increases are not directly related to actual output, the codebase is a terrible mess and any bugs are blamed on the developers that inherited the code from one-off contractors, this company is still trying to figure out how to be a company, i've never seen this much turnover in a single company in this short of a time period

Good learnings in fast paced environment

Cons

Lack of clear requirements and frequent scope changes lead to constant rework. Unrealistic timelines with minimal team support. Poor work-life balance with extended meetings and late-night calls. Limited respect for personal time and hybrid work policies
