In my 6 months working as a retail associate at Tamarack, I have never felt more unwelcome and outcast at a workplace. I worked 24-32 hours a week (mostly Friday-Sunday) and I would be assigned the same station daily, for 8 hours straight and no opportunity to be assigned other stations. I was not the only employee that was done this way, there were at least three others assigned to the same station daily. There was little to no rotation around stations, and favoritism played a big role. Management wanted little to no conversation between employees, which I understand in the "get work done" sense, but rather than being coworkers they wanted us to just be workers. When business was slow and the rare occasions I was taken off of my usual station and put in another, I would ask for something to do (no products to restock, no customers to interact with), I would just be told to clean my station when I had already been told that 30 minutes prior and the task was finished. The hours are 9am-7pm, which are completely unnecessary considering there were barely any customers in retail or the restaurant after 5:30-6pm. I felt more like I was in a bootcamp than a job, and by my second month I was already desperate to leave. I was made to feel useless and that the only purpose I served here was at my usual station, and I don't believe I was a regular at that station because I was a strong worker in that area. I believe it was because my supervisor deemed me incompetent to work in other areas, considering when we got carts of products in, they seemed to try to keep me from putting the items out or in backstock. No amount of money could get me to work in the retail section of this facility again. If you're not willing to suck up to management or you're not a pick, they do not want you here.
