Antiquated leadership structure. Onboarding process is basically non-existent. I was told to wander around for about 6 months and I would "figure it out." I never had a coaching session in the 18 months I was employed there. If you don't fit in with their "Natives can do no wrong" culture, they will drop you like a hot rock. No counseling, no warning, no attempts to correct actions or help you fit in. Just a letter of termination.
I wouldn't tell people not to work here, you just need to realize that no one there is your friend. There are no safe spaces and no room for error in dealing with the native Alaskans. The Natives own the corporation and they can do no wrong. If anything goes awry, the non-native will have to take the blame. So have a good emergency fund put aside (easy to do with the gobs of money this corporation wastes) and have a back-up plan.
