Unhealthy Work Environment

Pros

Easy work Some clinicians are great to work for Most fellow admin are great to work with and are a supportive team

Cons

Mandatory hour lunch for full-time administrative assistants There is a divide between clinicians and admin Clinicians expect you to stay late to assist them/their patient, but manager explicitly tells you there is no overtime pay Some clinicians (especially the owner) have (unreasonably) high demands (like being upset when his assistant is not at her desk--manager recommends timing her bathroom breaks around him); manager gives no support, saying "this is what you signed up for" Manager talks about raises, but most employees have not received raises in a while High staff turnover Little training; no HIPAA training/education, but employees are expected to be in compliance

Pros

Some clinicians are approachable...more approachable than management.

Cons

Management tends to hide and/or downplay important company events that would affect employment. Unless you've been there for a long time (most employees have been with the company for at least a decade) it is hard to feel like you are a part of the company.
