Pros

Great pay and benefits due to being heavily unionised.

Cons

Everything other than pay was a con. Do not work for this company. They do not care about your mental health. All they care about is high call targets and after call work times. They will push and push you to hit an average of 5 minute talk times per call, which doesn't sound that bad until you realise you are talking to people about their cancer treatment, or trying to find out why someone wasn't paid a full benefit. It literally is not possible to be empathic and care about a member, whilst trying to get them off the phone in 5 minutes. Also their systems are so outdated and they don't want to invest money into making the dinosaur website more user friendly. Not kidding, 50% of the calls I would take were for people who couldn't use the website, or were locked out for no reason. Do not work for this company. It will ruin your mental health.

Pros

Staff discount on health insurance. 6 weeks annual leave. Frontline staff relationships with eachother, they work as a team and look after eachother.

Cons

No flexibility on hybrid working, would rather lose long term staff than allow them to work from home. Remuneration is not in line with the tasks you are actually expected to perform/JD's dont accurately represent what you do. Staff are expected to "do more with less", resulting in staff burnout across the entirety of operations, staff ending up diagnosed with depression and on medication and staff hospitalised for mental health. Management do not value staff at all, can ask for support for months with empty promises on delivering but when staff leave the business their role is advertised within hours. Management see every employee as "head count" so when someone leaves they are "saved headcount". Management does not do catch ups with staff to check in and see how they are, speak about personal growth and development or listen to any concerns of feedback. Management preaches the business core values but does not display it themselves. The environment is incredibly negative and toxic with focus only being on whats wrong and never celebrating the wins and acknowledging staff input for those wins. Sexism and bullying are ignored or played off as "not that serious", including staff being bulled told that WHS is important but not a priority.

Toxic Environment- Run Away!

Pros

6 weeks annual leave (but good luck getting time off approved) Genuinely kind people in some departments Close to Central Station

Cons

Where to begin? What a toxic, terrible environment. Extremely high turn over rate because people get hired, see how quickly the job burns them out, are expected to perform to unrealistic KPIs, and are offered no support from upper management. Management in general is a joke. Lots of "people leaders" who don't know how to lead people, besides yelling and causing people to cry. No career growth. Massively underpaid for the position I am working in, and for most others. Management is fighting to remove the few benefits the job does offer (like a generous sick leave policy), and has reneged on pay increse negotiations. The CEO is old and out of touch, still wants to run the business as it was in 1954. Forced office days and no flexibility in when you can work from home. People regularly cry in the office due to stress or their manager. There's so much wrong with this company.
