Pros

I loved working as a teaching assistant in a French high school. It was very rewarding and I liked my colleagues.

Cons

The compensation for this job is very low. Additionally, you are only able to work for a few hours a week and can’t pursue other employment opportunities in the country not related to teaching English. I couldn’t stay more than one year due to the low amount of hours and compensation.

Pros

You really get an unmediated experience of a French town and school. The program itself is very hands off. It's up to you to forge relationships with teachers, townfolk, other assistants, etc.

Cons

Your experience depends heavily on where you were placed. You may sense a lack of guidance from the TAPIF management.
