Pros

Structured compensation package, very transparent. Some staff are very nice and professional. Several people are very skilled.

Cons

Leadership is inconsistent. Direction/expectations depend 100% on the person to whom you report and it can change regularly. Many poeple were inappropriate or immature; managment tolerated this. Restructuring is common and change seems nonsensical. HR has no power and barely any influence. Opportunties are about who you are friends with not what your capabilities are. Individualism is not welcomed.

Pros

* Timely wages * Safe work culture * Internet onboard * Short contracts (but NOW on paper only) * Pension scheme for officers * Regular in-house courses * Bonus system is good when it works * Medical insurance on leave for officers and family * Priority Pass lounge benefits at airports for officers * 'Beer and Wine only' Alcohol policy with strict daily limits on consumption

Cons

* No timely signoffs (may get delayed by 1 or 2 months). Even for senior officers * Lack of proper support from shore staff especially when it comes to timely reliefs. * Senior officer rotation policy is a joke; reliever always changes * Waiting period for joining especially for junior officers is long, nowadays * Surplus supply of Junior officers (Chinese officers also), so the company don't care if you leave them or not. Loyalty is very low. Junior officer wages were reduced or brought down due to this since 2016 * Stressful environment as there is lot of push from the shore team to complete various onboard jobs * Very less no. of Senior officers available with the company now (senior officers leaving probably due to stressful work environment). Company arranged road shows in various cities in India to recruit senior officers, but got limited response * Low motivation from shore team to ship team. No loyalty left especially due to the fact that members of both the shore team and sea team keeps changing and the company values are not being respected; selfish attitude prevailing * Work - Life balance no more applicable. Nowadays its just Work and no life * Although the company policy is against Blame Culture, its just the opposite that is being followed since last couple of years. Pointing fingers has become the norm * Poor management. People just running behind bonuses # The above information is not to defame the company or its staff. This is what I felt when I worked for the company for so many years and also from what I heard from my collegues in the company. This was an excellent company to work for when I joined, but the last couple of years have ruined the excellence and now a job here is no more desirable
