Pros

Customers and teammates. Teammates and coworkers, who are not in management, are the only reason people haven't gone crazy yet.

Cons

First off... Don't trust the recruiting team or the hiring managers... They will lie to get you to work here. Some individuals were recently hired under under a certain role and then moved to a different department on their first day of work. In the past some others were promised a desk job in exchange for working on the production floor... these promises were never kept and a few peoples careers were irreversibly damaged because of this company. It was nice working here a years ago because the company had a startup mindset. It used to be an exciting young company that cared about development, growth, and the wellbeing of employees. There was a hiring rush near mid to late 2019 where the company hired dozens of people. During this time Tempo hired horrendous managers who have since destroyed the company culture. From January 2021 until present day more than two dozen people have quit or left the company. Almost every individual who is not working a management job right now is overworked. It is physically challenging to consistently multitask and work heavy hours but management also mentally bullies us if we cannot keep up. If we complain about being overworked they tell us it is our own faults for having so much work... If we make a mistake due to being overworked then they publicly shame us... If there are issues with our work processes they expect us to fix it... The non-management people are working the processes, fixing the processes, and coordinating with each other to make things work. Some managers here don't even know their own processes they manage. What do these managers do all day? It is an embarrassment. Some individuals were recently criticized or prevented from taking PTO. Some were criticized and publicly shamed for taking days off due to COVID related issues. These same managers were also taking time off themselves... Some people in management have been overheard in the office admitting they don't care about their jobs because they don't agree with their title. The company has dealt with this by shifting them around and giving them better titles or a title they agree with while the managers have done nothing to have earned it. Only a few non-management people have been promoted here in the past 1.5 years and almost. all of them were promoted because they are friends with management. Because managers have done such a terrible job at this company we now have so many cultural issues. There is fighting, bullying, teasing, harassing, and even sexual harassment. Some individuals say they are depressed and their mental health is affected due to this place. None of these are issues that have come up recently but issue that have been here for awhile now. Many people say is it hard to wake up and come into work. Nothing has been done, they don't care, and some of these perpetrators are managers. DO NOT COME AND WORK HERE. People who already work here... runaway! Only come here if you are desperate. Tempo's People Ops team looks at these reviews. DO NOT believe what they say. There are fake reviews on here from them. The recruiters and managers will lie through their teeth to make you work here.

Pros

Pre-Covid: Free snacks, game nights, monthly happy hours (if those things matter enough to offset everything else). Post-Covid: Not having to go into the office which is in a terrible part of the city with very limited safe parking. - There were / are some genuinely good, hardworking people that want to do good work on behalf of customers & their teams. People within their respective teams build fairly tight-knit relationships. - Handful of customers building world-changing products. - Decent benefits (fully subsidized healthcare, 401 though no matching, "unlimited" PTO (though any of these things have become Bay area basics)

Cons

- TOXIC culture. The worst I've ever encountered. - Overextended employees - tremendous amount of manual work for a company with automation in its name. It's not if you will get completely burnt out, but when. - Each week the target changes of which department or team member will have the finger pointed at them for the non-stop "fires". - Constant changing of process and responsibilities thus ensues the next cycle of the blame game. All start-ups are subject to constant change, but change here is poorly executed (decisions made in a vacuum, rolled out w/o stakeholder buy-in, etc). - Tied to the above, no clear career path or advancement though often promised "it's coming" and to be patient. - Below market pay for most everyone except those at the top.

Pros

The people who were hired really enjoyed working together before things started falling apart. People worked hard, but it felt like a collaborative team environment.

Cons

Complete lack of transparency. The recent review from a former "Project Manager" on 6/1 is fake and most likely written by the recruiting team, as a new position of Project Manager was recently posted. There has never been a Project Manager role at Tempo, and if they are in fact a former employee, there is no way they would have left a five star review. Do better.

Tempo Automation Response

Tempo Automation does not condone fake reviews of any form and we take such allegations seriously. The claim that stated that there was a fake review written by the recruiting team is completely false. We value Glassdoor as a platform that allows employees to express their individual opinions. At Tempo, we know there are always things to be improved and are actively working on bringing the best of our culture to the front. We hope to see continued improvement and appreciate the feedback we do receive both through internal surveys, direct feedback, and through venues such as Glassdoor.
