Significant priority shifts due to new Executive team

Pros

- The employees that I worked with on a regular basis were AMAZING, intelligent, caring, talented, supportive people. - Good variety of work & clients - This first part of my time there was great. I really felt that my voice was heard, and the company valued it's people.

Cons

- New Executive team was brought in (even though the company is still trying to make money in the post-Covid era) and drastically changed the culture. - Studio wide scrums were suddenly too expensive and pointless, so our connection felt severed. - New business seems to be the only thing that matters, work with long standing clients (like Xbox) felt beneath the Executive team. - Salary was pretty low for the work I was doing. - Processes and tools were changing all the time without a clear direction. It made it harder to track changes and keep the team organized.

Company Has A Lot Of Issues

Pros

Everyone is very friendly for the most part and the creative/3D/retouch team is talented. You will learn a lot in very short time. New office is nice and located in downtown Edmonds. Access to waterfront, shops, good food, etc. 401k matching.

Cons

Management is still figuring out roles and responsibilities especially when it comes to advancement in roles. Setting goals and knowing how to reach the next step is still very vague / unclear. Project deadlines are almost, always very short. There is very little push back against clients. Poor communication. Working 50+ hours without any buffer / compensation is not unusual and expected. April to June are very busy months. Being in the office 9-5 is mandatory even if you've worked over your 40 hours. Only a select few get to work from home. Nobody knows how this is decided. Salaries are not very competitive. Profit sharing is nice but not always guaranteed so using that as an excuse to giving a lower salary is unrealistic. Favoritism is pretty apparent especially when it comes to the types of projects you get to work on and who gets to work from home. There is no initial training for project management roles which can be very stressful for everyone involved. For example, not knowing the right questions to ask or how much to budget for a project.

Great people; bad management

Pros

Very warm peer environment with lots of talented, kind coworkers. Work/life balance is encouraged especially to those with family. Business-casual attire and behavior. Interesting projects due to client relationship with Xbox.

Cons

It's gotten worse as the company has grown. Favoritism is hilariously obvious, growth is minimal, promotions and raises are scarce. Work processes are bottlenecked because upper management is overworked and projects are pushed out without the right people looking at them or delayed indefinitely. Salary is below market-rate to the point you can qualify for low-income housing.
