The welcome treatment you get in the first week pretty much sets the tone for the next 3 years. For a mature company, you end up doing a 10/20/70 split on planning/developing/troubleshooting. A lot of their internal services are extremely dated and fragmented. Initiatives get ignored if you are not in the right position. Instead of hiring proper developers, they offshore to low cost workers that does negative work (you spend more time fixing their problems than how much you would spend developing what they did)
