Pros

Terraprobe was a good company to work for a few years ago. You can get good experience with the types of complex problems Terraprobe receives. They only hire young individuals, so coworkers are friendly. There are some managers that are great if you are lucky enough to work for one of them. You can build a good relationship with upper management if you are flexible and willing to compromise. The best part was the young EITs you get to work with, who stick together and support each other.

Cons

The upper management has gone downhill quite a lot. The company is run by micro-managers who don't give a whole lot of breathing room. The decision makers don't seem to understand business development, or how to take care of employees. The hiring process is terrible, and the company has ended up with too many incompetent workers. They only seem to hire when they are swamped and trying to put out fires. There is no foresight to hire in advanced of busy times. They refuse to hire anyone or invest in anyone with experience. Meanwhile they have lost quite a few qualified individuals. There is no real training program for incoming people, so you better be ready for a sink or swim situation. The upper management refuses to listen to employee complaints and make any necessary changes, even after problems have occurred. Upper management wont even listen to other managers within their departments. You have to pay for your own benefits package that is sub-par. You will be underpaid with an hourly wage until you become a qualified engineer, and then you will finally be pushed up to a bottom line salary. You will not receive sick days, bonuses, phone allowance, or any other benefits. There are good people to work for there, but overall the company is ignorant to it's own faults, unwilling to change, and does not provide competitive benefits and salaries.

Pros

Terraprobe get the most challenging jobs in the Province; The engineers and the people are extremely knowledgeable; People are always down to help you with anything ; Schedule is very flexible so you can keep a good work/life balance;

Cons

Salary is very low; Company has no benefits; Company has no Pension Plan or RRSP; Company has no bonus for the employees; New President is VERY selfish and only cares about his own interests; The office is old and very dirty with dust; They don’t really care for the employees; Employees need to write down a field journal by their hand everyday which takes time and it’s old school.
