Pros

The work life balance was great, the ticket office leadership in 2019/2020 was great, and it was a great culture within the ticket sales office itself.

Cons

This pains me to write this, because had you asked me this a month ago, I would have a glowing review, however SMI and TMS have made decisions that have eradicated the reasons that I loved to work there. Now I would not recommend this company to anyone. Texas Motor Speedway is unfortunately a part of Speedway Motorsports Incorporated, and they could care less about their track in Texas. The whole company is so backwards in thinking that the ticket sales department is one of the least important departments, and hinders their ability to do their job constantly. Everyone was paid for a month during the COVID-19 pandemic, however they eventually let go the majority of the ticket sales office due to a Corporate Restructuring that was supposed to be taking place years down the line, instead they accelerated the process so they could save a few bucks in the process. Eddie Gossage, the President of TMS, is an old school, rah-rah kind of guy. Thinks that he can solve anything with a 10 minute pep talk, and that everyone should be amazed by his presence. Their logic is backwards, and they are transitioning to a new style of ticket sales, which will not be successful, and I would be surprised if Texas Motor Speedway survives the next few years. Nepotism also reigns supreme up and down this company, besides the ticket sales office. People are in positions up and down the SMI and TMS board that should not be, or they got their job saved because they had a better relationship with Eddie Gossage.
