Pros

Home working and not having to be in the same room as the Senior Management Team

Cons

The rules just don’t apply to senior management, and are cavalier with public safety information. IT director (Jan 2022) has an autocratic approach despite claiming to be staff focussed. The strategy reads like a fortune cookie list. Very high staff turnover as it has a “favourites club” that has abandoned meritocracy, if management like you for some arbitrary reason otherwise you have no voice. Bullying is so endemic it’s just accepted, if it continues to behave in this way attrition will increase as will industrial tribunals. Keep clear would be my advice.

Pros

My last manager is the best I will ever have. However, it can be hit and miss and they are backbone of the organisation. My team were made up of some really hardworking, conscientious, kind and funny people. Would recommend to people without too much responsibility in their personal life. Good range of opportunities once you've completed your probation - organisation can keep you in your current role for between 4-9 months when you are successful in obtaining a specialist post. Can be rewarding work and good level of training.

Cons

Despite the recruitment campaigns saying they are supportive of flexible working in practice the duties manager is obstructive to this. Duties/resourcing managers do not have respect for employees. I know the Tvp digital team will say in response to this post contact your line manager in the first instance - in reality they have no influence over the duties manager. So, if you have a life/responsibilities outside of work, perhaps not the career for you if you want to do any front line role. Organisation is having to make significant financial cuts on an already stretched service. Organisation is desperately recruiting to meet government uplift targets. Large influx of inexperienced staff at the moment which is having a detrimental impact on resourcing. However, this should improve in 12 months.
