Pros

- Great place to build your career: especially if you're interested in digital marketing/advertising, this is the perfect place to build your knowledge, skills and (most importantly) network. - You get back what you put in: if you try your best and show that you're willing to learn, you'll be rewarded with fun, challenging, and meaningful work that will advance your career. Hard work does not go unnoticed. - Plenty of opportunities for learning and rounding out your skills in digital: for example, if you're only working in AdWords and you're interested in developing your skills in Programmatic, there's always room for you to learn that. There are also weekly training sessions on Fridays that cover a range of topics from SEM, to display advertising, or even just an open Q&A session. Again, the important thing is that you have to show a willingness to work hard, be smart, and give your best. - Agile, fast-paced work environment: you'll never get bored here. You'll always be doing something different (or new!) everyday across various accounts, which of course can get a little hectic at times, but your day definitely flies by! - Amazing culture: every company says this, but the people here really are terrific. Not only is it fun and laid-back (e.g. the hours are 9-4pm, we all go for lunch together on Fridays, etc.), but you're also working with and learning from really smart people. If you ever have a question about anything, you'll never have a problem approaching anyone here at the agency who isn't more than happy to help you out.

Cons

- Can get hectic at times: this isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if you're at the start of your career and want to learn as much as you can, but there are definitely times during the year like the holiday season or quarter-end where the 9-4pm hours are a little "flexible" - though I think that's more so a reality about the marketing/advertising industry as a whole, as opposed to just the agency. Also can depend on which team you're on. Still, compared to most other agencies, the work/life balance here is definitely on the better side (if that's important to you). - Lack of consistent structure/processes: the agency is structured in a way that allows it to be agile for its clients, but the structures/processes can vary greatly depending on which team you're on. Also because of the general lack of rigid structure, any initiatives that fall outside of your day-to-day account management (e.g. a side project, business development, other initiatives, etc.), can have a lot of trouble getting traction if no one's willing to step up. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what's important to you, since it means there's a lot of opportunity to learn something new, but you'll have to take ownership and learn how to do it yourself.

Good place to start but not a place to stay

Pros

Company is hugely understaffed, so you get to try on and tackle many different things. Good benefits to be honest & you also get massage credits (not a lot though)

Cons

Crazy office politics. Non-sensical company structure (3 account directors in a 20 people office - wtf?). Terrible pay. President makes you show up at 9am on the dot and gets furious if you don't. I was negotiating salary with him & he thinks 5k extra per year is extraordinary. When he offered me that I took it as an insult... Definitely a cheap person. President also engages in questionable practices against the clients & charges them unreasonable fees. I'm surprised the clients stayed with this company for so long. Turnover here is very high and there's definitely a reason for that. As I said, good place to launch your career in digital marketing but not staying. President thinks this is the best company in the world but he has 'no idea why people continue leaving'. Well if you start working here, you'll figure that out yourself.

Pros

-good place to learn technical skills and get experience in digital -working here will help you understand what you want and don’t want in your next job

Cons

-certain directors lack people managing skills and generally not enjoyable to work with -some can be rude and condescending -your growth is largely dependent on tenure, not merit, and can even depend on the tenure of those around you. For example, they may hold off giving you a raise/promotion if someone who’s been there longer is lagging behind for fear of it being awkward. That said, the pandemic and the increase in job opportunities may have forced their hand in order to retain talent. -some processes are in place because “that’s how it’s always been done” but won’t change even if it no longer makes sense or if there’s a more efficient way

The Aber Group Response

We value everyone’s opinion and act quickly on feedback we receive. To address one of your comments directly, the survey you referenced asked employees about their feelings about returning to work a couple of days per week in a hybrid model; to learn how we could strike the right balance between work from home flexibility and in-person collaboration; and to get ideas on how we could make in-office work time more valuable. Research shows and I firmly believe that there is enormous value in face-to-face collaboration. We will do a follow up survey in a month to see how our employees felt about our two day per week, in-office test. Indications from the first survey wave were that about 5% of the team wanted to work 100% remotely. In fact, the majority thought 2 days per week in the office was the right amount. Unfortunately, without more specific information, I can’t comment on your career progression and interactions with account directors. Please reach out to me directly to discuss your concerns.
