Pros

Wonderful coworkers. Made lots of friends. Wonderful front desk staff. Wonderful Art Team. Met some fantastic visitors. Received many accolades for my knowledge and enthusiasm from the visitors and coworkers. Loved learning about the collection and demonstrating my talents as an art educator.

Cons

The “Upstairs Downstairs” hierarchical elitist divide is none the likes I have ever witnessed especially in a place that professes to be so progressive. If you are in GPS you are looked at as a necessary nuisance and treated with utter indifference by the upper echelon. This dynamic creates a very toxic, shockingly hurtful environment. Many a day I had tears streaming down my face at a place I thought would warmly embrace me.

Pros

Overall it is an alright place to work with a fair work life balance. The majority of the staff are pleasant and fun to work with.

Cons

There are a few people in the organization that are toxic, and for some reason have more power and pull then they should. Even though their titles should not give them the power and influence they have. The first few years I worked there, it was the best organization I ever worked for. These toxic people who came later have only made the place less enjoyable with each passing day. One of the toxic people had been mostly removed from interacting with most of the staff, so the leadership isn't completely blind, but it usually takes them too long to identify and move, or remove the toxic individual.
