Pros

- You really get to see the inner workings of the salon industry - Large portfolio so you have lots of work to do - A decent amount of autonomy - Opportunity to learn a lot of different department functions - Decent benefits

Cons

I've been compiling this list since I arrived because what they told me about the company was obviously not the truth: - Extremely political and toxic culture, lots of infighting and side taking. - Upper management often doesn't understand the different functions of all the departments (nor the actual culture of the company), resulting in them making decisions purely off of the pricing of work, and not the necessity. - Rigid and inflexible working hours (with some hypocrisy, given that no one but upper management is given the opportunity to work from home despite the distance and accessibility issues with office location). - Upper management will set policies that affect the quality and ability of your work, but will not stand behind you in support when receiving pushback from the field even though it was their decision. - Decisions made by leadership are fair-weather ones, and can change often and without proper notification or reason. - Other departments will not really do their job, even when they are critical to the success of your projects and operations. - Their handling of AP issues (e.g.; paying people net 30) and general conduct of business really hurts your working relationships with your vendors and field partners, and hinders your ability to bring new ones onboard. - Very reactive culture, the leadership do not believe in proactive management and process implementation so that we may streamline work. They only respond and show concern when they are under the magnifying glass or in the hot seat with people from the field; and even then that would mean you are thrown under the bus. - Despite repeated attempts to connect and voice concerns, emails are often ignored and issues are not responded to beyond an acknowledgement of concerns. - EXTREME amounts of turnover, the most senior member in a department was just a couple months in at a time. - Dishonesty is rampant amongst upper management and business ethics are more of an empty suggestion than actual practice here. - A lot more than I care to mention.

Pros

Salon teams, no back bar charge

Cons

Lack of support from home office. Marketing collateral never arrives on time. Internet & POS systems in the salon not capable of handling the booking, checking out clients and running a credit card transaction with out freezing up. Upper management has no idea what they are doing, will roll something out then cancel it. Orders of salon supplies are not being shipped to the salons. Retail shelf’s are bare. Many dedicated District managers have been “laid off” due to the closing of so many salons locations or taking a “salon dark” before the lease term has ended. March 2019 salon count was 672, as of April 2018 salon count 602. TBG payroll is still run by Regis Corporation. You would think since franchising these salons since October 2017 from Regis Corporation that some strings would of been cut, but they have not. These salons are the farthest thing from “luxury” as they can be. Repairs not being made or done in a reasonable amount of time.

Cons

A new company can have some hiccups but the great parts of working for The Beautiful Group make it worth walking through them
