Pros

Interesting work. Good location between Tysons and Reston Silver Line. Security personnel are really good.

Cons

Hired too many people too quickly. Overestimated the amount of work from the client. Laid off 130+ people within 4 months time, including 60 just this week. Employees and teams are routinely pitted against each other. Being redirected multiple times per week is normal. Enterprise solutions do not get built that way. Trust the people you hire! Some recruiters lie to candidates about length of security clearance process, flex time policy,

Pros

Benefits are OK, they have a 401k

Cons

Finding out how to use the benefits etc is impossible. Their inhuman resources is useless. After several months I still could not find out how to put money in my HSA, for example. I was part of the fourth layoff of around 30 people since I onboarded (June 2018). Each time, was "definitely the last." People hung around to get their clearances and then left. Others are waiting. I was on a "fully funded, completely committed" project until I came in and found that the entire team was sent home. Firings come without warning, just "you don't work here." I signed an offer letter and three months later was given a start date. I was told that was "fast." Oddest of all, they just redid their headquarters. Floors 1 and 2 are for worker bees, in an open office. Floor 3 is for management cubes and offices and us peons couldn't even access the third floor. I gave sr management one * because I couldn't pick them out of a lineup. And, two weeks after being tossed, I have not had official notice nor information on how long my benefits last, no a single word from HR.

The Buffalo Group (TBG) has had successful and sustained growth over the last few years as a result of our focus and emphasis on Mission. There are times where the mission shifts, and as such, we shift with it. This adaptation sometimes has unforeseen circumstances. That said, TBG continuously strives to provide the best possible experience for our employees by looking for opportunities to improve communication, benefits and work environment. We welcomed your feedback to help us understand how we can improve and support our employees.

Pros

They will hire anyone. I had only phone interviews. They only good thing I can say is that they paid on time, but delayed the max possible time and then shamed people for needing an advance on their first paycheck because it takes a month to get paid. They prefer hiring veterans, which is a good thing.

Cons

This is a straight up body shop. They lowball contract rates to win work and then reduce pay. They let customers treat their people badly. They expect you to be 100% billable and the customer requires onsite for all billable hours. I have worked at many services companies and this was by far the worst. Vacation was absolutely minimal, 2 weeks with no sick time and they did not provide the usual holidays, you had to make up your time at the client site when they were closed for a holiday.

TBG offers a robust benefits program which includes a 401k plan with a company match, three medical plan options, dental and vision. The company pays for Life, AD&D, STD, and LTD insurance plans. There is paid vacation and 10 paid holidays per year.
