Pros

I’ve been The Challenge Program for two years now. It really has been a stellar experience and I’ve gained an immense amount of knowledge. I really appreciate the amazing team here and we hold together a very strong and positive work environment alongside very welcoming and accepting environment for all current and new employees.

Cons

Being a nonprofit, sometimes the pay is not hyper competitive with people in similar positions, and the public sector in the same vein. Sometimes the workload can be a bit heavy because it does require a certain level of passion and drive to handle.

Pros

Overall there is a very healthy work-life balance. I am hourly right now and they respect my 40-hour work week with no concessions if they ever need me for an extended period of time they rebalance and give me a short day to even me out. When I first looked at a review of the company they said there wasn't a healthy work-life balance and that they were very overworked, I highly disagree. Non-profits usually pay a bit less than large cooperations so TCP actually pays a bit more than I would traditionally expect from a non-profit. The work-life balance and workload are very reasonable and healthy. Since we are education based the schools and business partners do cause some stress and make some weeks a lot heavier on workload and time but ultimately that's just a part of working near and with the education sector.

Cons

As I said above a bit of compensation is not hyper-competitive because that is a part of working for a non-profit, the health benefits, 401K, tax benefits, and a few other government advantages does help to rebalance this and make it very worth it ultimately. I also will say since we work in the education sector the schedule can be very hectic sometimes and that causes some weeks with heavier workloads and more stressful timing, This is mostly a fault of the education sector but a factor to think about nonetheless.
