Pros

I would never recommend this company.

Cons

I was forced to write a positive review for Clear Blue when I worked there. Several of us were. I deleted that reviewthe day I quit. Do not take a job with this company. Go on LinkedIn. Look at the owner's profile, call her previous agencies and clients and ask them about her. I was literally warned before I took this job and wish I had listened. The owner has wild mood swings and paranoia. She can be terrifying when she screams and belittles employees. She is no longer passionate about the work and only writes in metaphors and puns. As a manager I was told the policy was to demote employees they wanted to get rid of so they would quit, rather than fire them so as to avoid paying unemployment. Their fee structure is significantly higher than at other agencies, 30% (sometimes higher) vs. the industry standard of 17-20% plus they build in "contingency fees" to every project and never reimburse it when nothing goes wrong. Do not work for these people. It is a sour, scary, sad environment.

Pros

Good group of employees and contract vendors. Work together as a team and produce great results. Unfortunately, management drives fear and unnecessary stress amongst employees resulting in a hostile, awful work environment.

Cons

Management is the number one issue. Paranoid atmosphere, again because of management. Employees are treated with disrespect. If you are in the point of your career that you have children or home life needs, this place is not for you. It is looked down upon if you cannot commitment 150% of your time to management needs. No new business strategy. Failing business model. No HR department to assist employee needs. 100% turn around within a seven month period due to management.

Red flags....

Pros

Location in Birkdale is fun. Kind of a hike for Charlotte people but it's against the traffic. Occasional Friday afternoon beers are good. Some cool people, but they are not in management.

Cons

Very tense work environment and lack-luster portfolio. A lot of internal scapegoats and finger-pointing. Owner has erratic behavior. Has "ripped people a new one" on many occasions. The main account is 75-80% of business. There is one other account that is almost all the rest. Lots of turnover. Hard to keep good people. The creative is subpar. They haven't had a full-time senior designer in place in a year. Only a handful of actual employees. Everyone else is contract and can be unreliable. Having a ping pong table does not make a place creative. Attending a trade show overseas does not make you an international agency.
