Pros

The Crucible is a gold mine of opportunity, both for artists and for the organization. Artists and teachers are incredibly inspiring, and the community surrounding them is rich. The outreach programs are also one-of-a-kind. It's great to work somewhere that has a true, profound impact on its community. With the right leadership and vision, The Crucible would be an absolutely incredible place to work.

Cons

- Bad leadership and senior management (at least as of 2013). This place was a true "B Team hiring C Team" environment. Time and time again, the innovators/creators/strategists/A Team players on the business side were wholly shut down. It was disappointing every time - especially because the whole point of an artistic institution is innovation/creativity/collaboration, and it simply didn't translate on the business/organizational end. - Low retention of qualified personnel, because of the above scenario. The rate at which A Team players would quit or be fired was truly remarkable. - Gossipy/clicky culture. - Poor communication between departments
