Pros

Ground level people are great to be around, hard workers, funny, makes going to work fun. Lots of diners out, parties and events

Cons

the upper management needs some major pruning, lots of VP and director level people who do nothing while ground level people work long hours and are expected to be mind readers. Culture of fear is instilled from the top down causing a lot of reactionary decisions and lots of rework. Very poor communication from top down.

Pros

Nice co-workers, free food and went out to dinner more than any other place I've ever worked at.

Cons

How this Ad Agency survives is beyond me. They have a handful of clients that allow them to float I'd guess. CEO at the time was aloof and said all of three words to me in 2 years. Creative Director was absolutely clueless. When he couldn't win new clients because he is an uneducated fool, he'd blame his employees. He billed himself a Digital Creative Director but privately admitted to not seeing the value in social media. His ideas were old, his management style was to pressure his people into creating good work. "Failure is not an option" was his favorite phrase. To this day he remains the most abusive creative "leader" that I've ever worked for. You can't talk about TFG without discussing glorified IT Director who envisions himself as some sort of genius. Clients hate him because he is a pompous and lack basic people skills. Everything in his words an mannerisms seemed to say "I'm better than you".

Pros

Some great folks work there, but it can be hard to connect People are serious about food: get to sample fun new products, free lunch once a week. Nice perks (decent pay, great insurance, hip office, great snacks!) The IT guy is totally legit. Everyone gets a brand new mac which you can use as your own, everything is on google drive/gmail.

Cons

I came to a small agency for a more flat structure and collaborative approach, but found that there was a total cult of personality, a lot of antagonism between departments, and lots of rank-pulling The budgets are often too small to do the work well If the CEO has a pet project, be prepared to drop everything. It's also too small to absorb that: if one person is out, the whole agency suffers If one of the senior people doesn't like you, it doesn't matter how good your work is. Creative team in-fighting isn't uncommon
