We are so sorry to hear the communication issues you are facing. We have since hired a new COO in Dec and hope this has alleviated some of the time challenges leadership was experiencing while trying to keep their foot on the gas. We have achieved recruiting and securing the number of newsrooms we had projected for 2021 and are very excited about recruiting our 2021 Corps members. We thank everyone for their efforts and look forward to working as a team in achieving our goals.

Since this review the company has grown 2-fold, better defining roles and responsibilities. Revenue has also increased allowing the company to recruit filling in functional gaps.

Inspiring mission, but insufferable atmosphere

Pros

Staff is very nice and full of energy. Office is beautiful and in great location with a growing number of world known news brands. The mission of Groundtruth means well and the staff reporters/directors have won the place many awards

Cons

Actual staff is made of brilliant journalists, but top leadership continues to sell Groundtruth's mission short. The main mission is undercut by low quality reports, giving fellowships to friends, micromanaging and a hypocritical distaste for youth. It's like we pretend to do be doing great things but every thing just falls short. The executive director is a bridge burning bully and has pushed several people (fellows and staff) to the point of quitting over the years. In my view the exec director is and will always be this organization's biggest problem. But no one will know that becuase he only he encircles himself with people who blindly agree with him. Everyone else is belittled and driven mad until they leave.
