Pros

Compensation and benefits package above market. Free coffee.

Cons

Passive aggressive culture with low threshold for those who deviate from the paternalistic, decision-by-committee ethos. Weak, complacent senior leadership team that lacks vision. Top heavy organization with no true leader. Unfortunately, many of the people who work here don't like working here (or each other). Many are stuck - the compensation is too attractive to take a chance on the unknown in this economy. Those who appear to be happy here are in senior management or are well-liked by senior management, and have some level of authority (VPs and Directors, mostly). Bad behavior is tolerated at all levels. The company does not hold employees accountable for their behavior or performance so long as they tow the company "culture" line. Very few opportunities for advancement exist among those in mid-management (managers, associates, specialists). As a result, different departments operate as mini-fiefdoms in order to compensate for lack of power or recognition. It is stressful and toxic - you are always looking over your shoulder in this mini-shark tank. Many employees' career experience has only been at CMI; thus, no diversity of thought nor any degree of comfort with change. This is particularly true with manufacturing and the supply chain divisions. On the positive side, the company offers free annual on-site health screenings, quarterly fitness reimbursement and company-sponsored events. Benefits and salary are above market. However, I'd trade in the free health screenings and company outings for more recognition and a more professional culture any day.

Pros

The Krusteaz Company is a privately held CPG company which means that decisions aren't predicated on Wall Street earnings. They are willing to take more risks than some other organizations and decisions often happen more quickly. They are growing and promote a sense of entrepreneurship so it would be a great place for a self-starter with good ideas. There are a lot of antiquated systems and ways of doing things but the company is working toward changing that and is welcoming to new ideas from employees who come from different organizations and backgrounds.

Cons

The Krusteaz Company espouses that they are a family oriented company and a fun place to work. They say that they have a strong culture built around a spirit of camaraderie and respect. That was definitely true when the original owner was managing the company and when it was smaller. The Krusteaz Company is growing rapidly and with that growth, the company has changed. The organization is now being run by the son, Andy Heily, and he has put new leaders in place that don't necessarily live and breathe those same standards. . There is a lot of dysfunction at the Sr. Leader level which in turn trickles down and causes issues with the rest of the teams. People are left to fight it out with no strong leaders to resolve issues and make decisions. There is a lot of lip service about encouraging open dialogue to resolve issues but that's not playing out in reality. Strong leadership, especially at the Director level is sorely lacking. In addition, because the company is a CPG company that primarily makes dry mixes, there has recently been more pressure to innovate. This pressure has caused a palpable shift in the way employees interact with each other and the company is no longer a pleasant place to work.

Pros

Benefits, Compensation, Flexibility, Fairly Safe Work Environment

Cons

Wizard of Oz culture (don't look behind the curtain). Very stressful environment from a relationships perspective. Lots of back stabbing and talking behind peoples backs. Very little professionalism.
