Pros

none. maybe the beer cart that rolls around every once in a while. oh, and for sure the parking situation downtown.... NOT! plan on paying around $50 per week to park.

Cons

My experience with Lacek was a joke. They will throw you in the deep end with next to zero training, and expect long hours. If you have a family DO NOT consider working here. If you are single and looking to sleep around to get ahead, then by all means, go for it. They will butter you up and make it sound like it's too good to be true during the interview, then their true colors come out once you are hired. If you are not inner circle at this company, you are considered to be recyclable. Again, worst experience of my life and I have been with several solid companies. Even left one after they recruited me to join. WTF was I thinking! Two thumbs down!

Thanks very much for sharing your feedback about The Lacek Group. As company with a 20+ year history in the Twin Cities, we work hard every day to create a happy workplace, where people are given the tools and training they need and are treated with fairness and respect. We’re sorry that you felt you weren’t sufficiently trained and that your workload was too heavy. We work with employees every day to address any problems they’re experiencing and come up with positive solutions. As part of our continuous improvement plan at TLG, we conduct regular team trainings, meetings, and employee surveys — the most recent of which reported that only 2.7% of our workforce said they didn’t enjoy working here. The other 97.3% of our employees enjoy progressive family-friendly policies to support work and life balance, such as flexible work arrangements and generous parental leave, as well as the aid they receive by transportation subsidies to our centralized downtown location. We genuinely appreciate hearing feedback through sites like Glassdoor, where unfiltered comments like yours give us another opportunity to reflect on how we can do better. If you’d like to share your experiences and insights with us directly, please don’t hesitate to contact our HR department at (612) 369-3700. We wish you the best in your future endeavors. And finally — while we take your negative feedback seriously, and will discuss it here internally — we’re glad that you enjoyed the beer cart.

Pros

This is a place where people consistently do what they say they will do. There are lots of smart people, using data to craft highly targeted communications. Overall, it's a pretty well run marketing agency with a high level of integrity and most people are fairly happy here. There is still a strong sense of loyalty and family among the employees of Lacek.

Cons

Lacek has recently gone through some aggressive growth and the culture has suffered as a result. Although there are between 160-200 employees now, things are still being done the same paternalistic and ad hoc way they were when there were 50 employees. Unfortunately, to buy some of that growth, they have hired or promoted at least three senior partners who do not reflect the culture or values of The Lacek Group. Finally, Lacek has shown a willingness to chase new business to the detriment of existing clients (as most agencies do.)

Pros

- It used to be a great place to work, but things have changed. - Good team, and strong relationship with other teams.

Cons

- The Lacek group has poor management that is passive aggressive. They are will tell you 'super, great job' to your face, and then hear other things behind your back. - The Lacek Group is behind other agencies focusing mainly on direct mail and email channels, without the skills to deliever in the other channels. - They have monthly functions are that are all focused around alcohol, which gets out of hand. - This is small agency, so there is lack of career opportunities, and budget for training.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry that you’re not enjoying your experience at Lacek lately. Please consider having a Career Conversation (or several) with your manager or another colleague you trust. We’re thankful you’re part of Lacek and hope through some honest discussions that we can improve. In addition, perhaps you might consider a change in responsibilities, position or team—any of which could provide a new outlook for you too. (Find all the career pathways listed on our internal website or reach out to a member of our HR team for guidance.) In addition, please consider meeting with our talent development specialist, who can steer you toward training opportunities. We have set aside a specific budget for training needs and want to ensure that it's being used in meaningful ways. Plus, be sure to take advantage of You Matter Day—a paid day off to learn any skill of your choice (professional or personal). Regarding innovation, we encourage you to attend one of our weekly learning sessions on a variety of topics including how we're embracing personalized omnichannel delivery in the work that we perform for our clients. The Lacek Group is built to innovate and we're proud of the strategic approaches we take to bring cutting-edge thought leadership from all perspectives to clients and beyond. Finally, regarding social events, perhaps the monthly happy hour isn’t your scene. Consider attending one of the other events, like joining one of our agency sports teams or other groups (e.g., Interactive Coffee Hour, Ping Pong Social Club, PodSquad, Push Up Club or Zen Club). Or maybe volunteer at one of our charity functions through People Serving People. In the meantime, please know that we’ll share your review with our leadership. And thank you again for your insights and contributions to Lacek.
